I got one last month. You can live chat them and ask for a discount code. I got $50 off IIRC. BUT the worst part is the ship the printer in a generic one size fits all box. The printer was bouncing around in it because the printer and foam surround was smaller in all dimensions that the interior of the box. I couldn't believe it, but this is Normal for all brother refurbs. They won't return unless defective, to which I said GFY. Kept the printer, works great. Lack of duplex scanning isn't as big a deal as I thought
Can't even find live chat on their site

It means you stick your paper in the feeder and it will scan both sides in one pass. My scanner has a duplex option where you manually put your papers on the scanner bed and flip the page over.
Unless you duplex scan everyday, it's not a deal breaker. Most home office type do not have duplex scanner. It will add bulk to your printer too.
This is a useful feature. I like it!

If you leave the page open for a few minutes, eventually the live chat box will pop up. Can't recall if I was on the product or checkout page, but I was using Chrome (usually I use FireFox since it blocks better) and got a $40 off 200.

I didn't need a new printer (I have a Ricoh C250DN that has been trucking along fine) but have been looking for an all-in-one solution for home and to upgrade. A CB site sent me 20% e-mail bonus after I was browsing earlier so at this point deal is too good to pass up.

What is duplex scanning?

This lloks like a good deal for color laser. I have a Brother B/W all in one refurb unit that works great. Honestly I've never even used the scanner
Duplex scanning is a feature that automatically scans both sides of a double-sided document without requiring manual flipping. Units so equipped use an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) to scan, process, and digitize both sides, allowing fast, continuous scanning. It's a neat time-saving feature if you scan a lot.

Need to find out if it has Linux drivers. I've used Brother printers for decades because they support Linux pretty well with many models, and they generally don't prohibit third party ink and toner. And they work, period.
Edit: it does have linux printer and scanner drivers.
I made the mistake of updating firmware on my DCP-L2550DW as recommended by the Brother software on Windows. It blocked all my aftermarket toners, including the one I'd installed about a month before.

Never taking another Brother update. I was able to find another brand later that worked after the update, so I assume they're just blocking RFID's as the aftermarket figures out how to work around Brother's previous blocks.

Hoping I can move the tag from the current toner when it's empty to the ones they blocked.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they're selling brand new printers as refurb, as a way to increase sales without diluting MSRP. When I ordered my Brother refurb a few years back it arrived as new in every way, without a scratch, scuff mark, or blemish, and showing zero signs of previous use.

OP Note: Based on earlier comments on other Brother deals, users recommend opting out of the "Refresh EZ Print Subscription smart ink & toner service" at setup because it may block the use of low-cost aftermarket toner cartridges.
Make sure to disable auto-updates to the firmware and any other other auto installs on brother lasers.
On many brother printers to disable firmware updates navigate to the printer's settings menu, then to Machine Info, and finally to Firmware Auto Check, where you can select "Off" to disable automatic updates. This prevents the printer from automatically searching for and installing new firmware versions that may block 3rd party toners.
Here's a step-by-step guide:
Access the printer's menu: Press the "Tools" icon on the printer's control panel.
Navigate to Machine Info: Select "All Settings" and then "Machine Info".
Disable Firmware Auto Check: Select "Firmware Auto Check" and then choose "Off" to disable automatic updates.

I'm still using the refurb I bought from them 8-10 yrs ago. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I think so too. I've gotten like 2-3 printers from them and they all look brand new. Makes me wonder if they're store returns like from Best Buy or maybe they're just returns that they've repackaged.

I bought a Ricoh C250DN on a deal back in 2016 for my girlfriend at the time; she was starting a small business and it was an office-warming gift. The price was $49.99 shipped from B&H Photo, which was an incredible price for a new color laser. I could not believe the size and weight when it arrived; it was quite a beast for $50. She may still be using it for all I know.

I don't see it mentioned in the Frontpage description, but this model does have a Gigabit Ethernet port.

I think I jumped on that same deal back in the day. It's a behemoth!
