Huh. After 18 years, I finally find a deal to post- search to make sure it's not posted, start typing the new deal at 4:52 and then it's posted by staff while I'm finishing/editing. Ain't that something

When I check my RSS feed in the morning, I am always * surprised at all the ones around midnight. I wonder who the hell stays up so late just to post deals here. Are there so many regular people with insomnia and the urge to share the latest "deal" on Star Wars figures, Xbox games, or "Life Protection" dog food?

Anyway, I am disappointed that the SD "deals" feed has increased from maybe two hundred a day to maybe a thousand over the last few years, and yet the actual deals are roughly the same, maybe one to three per day. I am a libertarian, and I don't claim to dictate policy to this web service. I understand that it is "take or leave it". So I will respect their offerings as they are, and wade through their shit in hopes of getting a real deal every few days.

* Always is maybe exaggerating. Maybe 90% are crap, and only 2% surprise me?

This adapts a Coleman camp stove that normally uses liquid fuel (camping fuel/white gas/unleaded gas) to allow use with propane from the 1lb containers. With a separate hose, I suppose you could use standard bbq size propane tanks as well.

Coupon is the Save 10% on Camping & Hiking Equipment. I don't know if that is multiple items or one time use. *If* it's one time, you'll have to use your judgement if it's worth it on a $5 item

edit: now available for $4.36 at Walmart if you have free shipping there

I would imagine at this point most mod posts are at least in part done by a bot. I cant imagine people are that active after all this time... though the referral link kickbacks must be worth a bit.

RIP, Parnelli Jones, I didn't realize he had passed away (2024).

Also RIP to actual users posting good deals.

And RIP to Amazon coupons.

Amazon must of price matched Walmart, it was $4.36 with a 44 cent coupon for me ended up being $3.92 with free shipping. Now I can get some more life out of my old coleman... white gas is friggin expensive these days and getting harder to find.

So I just bought this on ebay last week for $10, which is waaaaay less than it's been going for. It came in 48 hours, shipped overnight by Fedex direct from Walmart. I assumed this was some stolen credit card/triangulation scheme because the only way they could ship a $40 product overnight and sell it for $10 is if they had a stolen card.

But now I'm thinking someone found a way to hack Walmart and find prices that aren't showing up online yet, list it on ebay for 2x that price and still make a couple bucks. At least that's my theory of the moment.

For the record, the Walmart portion of the deal is dead. I still grabbed another from Amazon because dollar cost averaging made me (not that I'm ever going to need a 2nd one of these).

I haven't used a liquid gas appliance since the '60s. I had a Coleman flounder gigging light, that used cloth mantles, and you could buy a gallon of Coleman, "white gas," in the red can, for several dollars, or go to an Amaco gas station, and buy a gallon of white gas, out of the pump, for 35 cents. I didn't realize anyone still used liquid gas appliances.

Still my preferred stove and lantern. Maybe just for the nostalgia. But the lanterns do put out way more light than others IMO.
