I tried it in Costa Rica in March, and it was horrible. Had to keep re-entering APN settings manually every time I lost connection in the woods. I would not recommend.

I used gigsky on my South East Asia cruise. It worked in thailand, malaysia, and vietnam. It did do something strange where it flashed the ROM of my android phone to AT&T.

I used this on a recent trip and it was fine. App was a little annoying at first but once the eSIM was set up it worked well

I'll be heading to Thailand and Vietnam in a month. Might have to look into this, but in the past, I generally just go on Trip.com app and buy a cheap local e-sim for under dirt cheap. $5 for 2 weeks cheap.

It shouldn't flash anything. When you set up an e-sim, that's how it works. You basically will have multiple profiles. For us, we have Verizon as our US carrier. And when we went overseas, it connected to SK-Telecom. But some of the e-sims overseas will support multiple networks too.

What worked well for me when we went to Japan and South Korea was to set up the e-sim while I had internet back at home. Once I landed, I just switched to the other e-sim and it started working almost immediately. Pretty seamless. Then once you're back at home, switch to the Verizon e-sim. I would caution that you need to be careful as to not turn on your e-sim (or off airplane mode) until you land at home, specifically if you are on you switched back to your USA e-sim. As it will charge you insane charges really quickly once notifications start pushing.

I just used the normal 1GB/3GB plan in Switzerland. Worked great. It's not the "unlimited" country, but I have several Visa cards. Almost every card I have qualifies for something once a year.
