Running right now. It's makes a loud noise like a bearing is off or something. Only had it a few months. Bought brand new, not a refurb.

You also get an Allstate warranty with Ebay. One of my friends bought a Dyson fan refurbed on ebay that ended up making noises. Allstate just gave him a check for the original purchase price after he'd had it for over a year and a half.
I purchased a Dyson heater/fan many years ago, also with the same warranty. Fan worked great. Later found out this refurb was still broken, as it would shut down after a minute or so of heating. Had to ship it back to the Allstate inspection facility, don't know if they actually inspected anything, but they responded that it was unrepairable and refunded the full purchase price.

true, but dyson only offers 6month warranty and no returns, while ebay offers 2yr warranty and free 30day returns.
I made the mistake of purchasing a refurb V10 vacuum from the Dyson site. The battery died after 7 months. Dyson would make no exception and told me to pound sand. I would never purchase without an included extended warranty again.

Beware when purchasing refurbished from Dyson. My order arrived with scratches, dust and hairs.
Eeek. Did you exchange or get a partial refund ?

Is it better to go directly through Dyson refurbished for the r@kuten CB bonus? Would they honor same price? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Air purifier and filter is a myth unless you live in a glass cage. You know how much fiber and "dust" flies when you pull and use a facial tissue? How much pollen enters through doors whenever you open & close. If you have carpets, it stirs up so much "dust" while vacuuming. It's just a nice and fancy fan.

Isn't that the point of this product...?

So you don't get all those dust fibers, pollen, carpet dust blown at you and in your face while the fan blows directly at you?

The aforementioned seems like exactly the justification for this use-case.

Can anyone provide some insight whether credit card extended warranty of +1 year will apply if i buy it from ebay or dyson. If it does Ebay would be 3 years and dyson would be 1.5 years.

Don't know Dyson site, but it is pretty easy to get refund at ebay.
Also Ebay comes with 2 or Allstate warranty. Dyson site only offers 6 months.

Did you replace it under warranty?

You have to pay close attention to the fine print on your credit card.

I purchased a V10 Dyson vacuum using Costco's credit card, assuming it would add an extra year of warranty to the shit 6 month provided by Dyson. I did not know at the time it specifically excludes used items. They refused the argument that factory refurbished is not the same as used. Could not get the warranty extended when the battery died at 7 months.

American Express, however, does not exclude factory refurbished items. Use that, if you have one (and if those terms still apply).

This is very tempting, but the refurbished factor gives me major pause.

Does it actually make the air colder as it's listed as "Pure Cool"

I've had this fan but with the wifi connection for a few years. I bought it refurbed. It has worked flawlessly. Personally, I would not buy this version without the wifi monitoring. This monitors the air quality in the room where the fan/filter is located as well as outdoor air quality. I monitors filter life. One can control the fan through the wifi as well. Non Dyson filters are sold on Amazon for much cheaper than the Dyson branded ones and they are of the same quality. The fan does a good job of filtering the air. The commenter who was dismissing the effectiveness of air filters does not know what he is talking about. When it comes time to change your filter and you see the particulates that are in the filter...then tell me they are not effective....The filters last me about 3 months. In a nutshell...I don't recommend this fan/filter, but I highly recommend the version of this that comes with the wifi connectivity. I paid the same price for the other version as this.

Air purifiers are one item that exploits people's fear and yet provides no proof that it has done the job. Even if they did users have no easy way to verify if they did the job. I find it difficult to trust utility of such products. Also even if they work, how a little air purifier will clean my 3000+ sq ft house. May b a lil in the vicinity of it but once u r out of that zone u r inhaling "unpure" air anyways. May be a lil utility they have in absorbing odor if u r cooking something in the kitchen before the guests arrive. But is 150+ bucks worth it for that? I m not sure!
