Is that still their design preference for the newest generation? Or will these actually screen out noise while on a call?

I got older Sony's and Bose sets that is already good for ANC. What Apple AirPods Max 2 got me interested is the transparency mode. I think the next worthwhile upgrade for us (me and my spouse) is a over-the-ear headset (for long batter hours), with ANC, transparency mode, and background noise reduction/voice isolation for working from home.
We sometimes have back-to-back videoconference calls, so it battery stamina needs to last most if not the entire work day. Our home offices are above and below each other, so we can "hear" each other when talking loud. So, need a headset that blocks this so the party on the other end doesn't hear those background conversations on the other room but also transparent mode so we can hear if someone is ringing the door bell at the front door, or we're in the middle of getting robbed/break-in. Also decent sounds for music and good ANC mode as well.
I am looking at Airpad Max 2, but the weight and price of it is initially not ranking it high on my list. Are these comparable to AirPods Max 2 as far as my needs for all-day home office headsets for video calls, (as well as the one headset to rule them all -- traveling too)?
