This Switch 2 bundle is mainly a way to get the console plus a redeemable choice of one game, with the code scratched off in the box and redeemed in the Switch 2 store. The strongest appeal is convenience for buyers who already want the hardware, especially for Mario Kart World, Pokemon Pokopia, or other Switch 2 play. It also works with existing Switch games, and the console can be bought through Nintendo using eShop funds. The main knock is value, since the bundle is often described as only about $20 cheaper than buying separately, with some concern about the higher $500 price and limited launch library.

  • Players who want broad Switch game compatibility, because it runs most physical and digital Switch 1 titles and still supports physical copies for some new games.

  • Families buying for Mario Kart World play, because the open-world mode gives kids something to explore and the bundle includes a redeemable game choice.

  • Buyers planning to redeem a digital game later, because the box includes a code that lets you choose one of three games.

  • Pokemon Pokopia fans who want a handheld system, because the bundle suits a game-first purchase and the ARM-based console is easier to carry than heavier x86 handhelds.

  • Handheld gamers sensitive to battery life, because the battery is described as worse than the previous generation and the larger screen uses more power.

  • Players who want a large launch library, because the Switch 2 still has few games that fully use its hardware and upgrade support can be slow.

  • Buyers worried about reliability, because overheating in dock mode has been reported and some are waiting for a refreshed design instead.

  • Parents shopping for a first portable console for a child, because the $500 price is hard to justify compared with the cheaper Switch 1 many bought for under $200.

I've tried different credit cards but my online gift card orders at Costco always end up getting cancelled by Costco. I don't get any fraud alerts and I see the pending charges on my credit card account but Costco always end up still canceling the orders for some reason. 🤷 ♀️
I would suggest taking the drive out to a physical location, if using a card doesn't work in person, i suggest purchasing with physical cash? It's worth it for a free game.

Ignore people. Every nintendo product since the snes has supposedly been an utter failure and it's just a miracle that the whole company hasn't shut down. You'll hear the same stuff every console release.
Wii-U.

Switch 2 may not be as bad since it has backward compatibility but my forecast is Switch 2 won't be pulling a new rabbit out of the hat because it is pretty much the same rabbit, albeit slighty large, as Switch 1.

Switch 1 pulled in so many new casual gamers that aren't going to spring for half a thou just for a slightly larger screen and nicer graphics.

Even I, whom I could consider a gamer, am choking on the price when battery life and screen are worse than last gen.

Such is the challenge of the handheld market.

I don't think waiting is the right play with the Switch 2. If you're at all interested in playing any. Nintendo games for the next 8 years I'd get one now. For one, console prices will only go up from here. It's a different game now. Console prices don't go down throughout their life anymore. It won't be any cheaper than it is now especially with this bundle and getting 10% off. Two, even if and when they refresh the system and come out with the pro/OLED it will be ridiculously priced. Likely $700. Which is insane to think about for a Nintendo console. And the part I never hear the wait crowd talking about. You lose time waiting it out. Consoles have a finite time for when they're useful before they become outdated. If you save $50 waiting for the price to drop you've lost more than that in value using the console while waiting for the price to drop. And again. The price is only going to go up from here.
Given Switch 1s extensive library, the wait crowd can get a lot more bang for their buck, even at a higher price, by waiting a few more years until Nintendo caves and releases a true upgrade to switch 1 with a better battery and OLED.

If it's like the Mario Kart World bundle, then it's not a code. It will most likely be same as the Mario Kart bundle which the game is linked to the hardware somehow. When you log in to the eshop on the Switch, it will say you have a game to redeem and you select. If they just have a slip with a DLC code, it's their loss if you redeemed the game and then decide to return the Switch later. I believe having the game linked to the switch, they can remove the game from your account if a return was made
Yep, this is the method they've used for several bundles of the switch and switch 2.

Is $390 for just the system a good price?
I've got GCs to burn, I don't really need this since I have the first switches but I got expiring GCs lol...

That's pretty much what I do (just buy physical gift cards). The Costco warehouse is just 5 minutes from home anyway and I actually pass by it on my daily commute from work.

PS5 came out 6.5 years ago and just passed 90 million units sold. Switch 2 hasnt been out for a year, with no major 1st party releases, and already has moved 20 million. Ive never seen an anti-Nintendo hater on Slickdeals before so I have to hand it to you, your bitterness and hatred towards the company is a sight to behold. Usually the people that complain the loudest about a deal are the ones that can't afford it. So less typing, more working, maybe you too can one day have disposable income so you dont have to count other people's money and tell them what they should or should not buy
I dont see a need to disparage someone who views something is overpriced or over-rated. It isnt irrational to view this product as not a great deal currently, and millions of release consoles have been returned or traded in for credit yet they were counted as sales. Also, in general Nintendo has a terrible anticonsumer reputation they continue to grow, so its amazing you'venever come across the hate. Maybe you are living in an internet echo chamber?

For a company who announced they're about to raise prices, this seems like an interesting time to offer a deal on a console. Are retailers trying to clear inventory? Is Nintendo trying to juice the sales numbers ahead of the anticipated decrease in sales after the price increase? For being just barely 1 year old, the behavior is a far cry from the original switch which sold like hot cakes for its entire life cycle. Such is the consequence of making an iterative console with only a few gimmicks and slightly better graphics compared to its predecessor. You could say the same of Xbox and PS but those consoles get lots of developers building for them compared to Nintendo's lack of 1st party entries from its biggest franchises (Mario or Zelda) and being a graphical downgrade against the other 2 consoles/their handheld equivalents and Steam has now entered the fray as well.Switch set too high of a bar and Nintendo is trying to keep riding a wave that's fading.
There is a rumored Zelda themed Switch 2 coming, likely at the time of the price hike taking effect. To coincide with the all but officially confirmed Ocarina of Time remake.

I mean. This isn't much of a financial deal. Wasn't the MK bundle already $500? I guess having the choice to pick one of two different titles is the draw???
