You receive a code with the box that lets you pick one game. I had to look it up since it isn't easy information to find.

Interesting. But this $500 price tag IS the higher price, so I don't see how this is much of a deal. You're saving maybe $20 on the cost of a game, but the game certainly isn't free/included in the original $450 MSRP.

What are you talking about? at 19.86 million units globally. It became the fastest-selling console of all time, shifting nearly 20 million units in its first 10 months.

How do you pick the game? I added to cart and can check out but don't see a way to choose.

Check out the box shown... Pretty sure it comes with the system, not from Amazon

There's most likely a code in the box that you redeem online.

For a company who announced they're about to raise prices, this seems like an interesting time to offer a deal on a console. Are retailers trying to clear inventory? Is Nintendo trying to juice the sales numbers ahead of the anticipated decrease in sales after the price increase? For being just barely 1 year old, the behavior is a far cry from the original switch which sold like hot cakes for its entire life cycle. Such is the consequence of making an iterative console with only a few gimmicks and slightly better graphics compared to its predecessor. You could say the same of Xbox and PS but those consoles get lots of developers building for them compared to Nintendo's lack of 1st party entries from its biggest franchises (Mario or Zelda) and being a graphical downgrade against the other 2 consoles/their handheld equivalents and Steam has now entered the fray as well.Switch set too high of a bar and Nintendo is trying to keep riding a wave that's fading.
People's expectations keep going up. Car computer chip shortages some years back. Same thing with memory prices do to AI. Nintendo is making profit. Hyundai posted their first loss ever. They're going hybrid and less with EV. Maybe you're getting too old for casual gaming. I haven't touched Rocket League in years.

If it's like the Mario Kart World bundle, then it's not a code. It will most likely be same as the Mario Kart bundle which the game is linked to the hardware somehow. When you log in to the eshop on the Switch, it will say you have a game to redeem and you select. If they just have a slip with a DLC code, it's their loss if you redeemed the game and then decide to return the Switch later. I believe having the game linked to the switch, they can remove the game from your account if a return was made

This is such an insane comment to me. Nintendo was criticized every time they put out a new console with a useless stupid gimmick. They literally did exactly what people wanted them to do which was to just make a newer, better switch. and now you're criticizing them because they didn't use a gimmick? Lol
