What are you talking about? at 19.86 million units globally. It became the fastest-selling console of all time, shifting nearly 20 million units in its first 10 months.
Ignore people. Every nintendo product since the snes has supposedly been an utter failure and it's just a miracle that the whole company hasn't shut down. You'll hear the same stuff every console release.

Interesting. But this $500 price tag IS the higher price, so I don't see how this is much of a deal. You're saving maybe $20 on the cost of a game, but the game certainly isn't free/included in the original $450 MSRP.
I think the logic here is that they have already announced a price increase to $500. So instead of waiting and paying $500 for just the console, buy it now and get a game with it. In Sept, the free game will go away, and my guess is it will come back for black friday with Mario Kart World like they do every single year.

What are YOU talking about? Yes, it set records at launch but that is only part of the picture. Sales have been going downward since.

Weak Holiday 2025 sales coupled with lower projection rates (previously thought higher) are spearheading this downward trend. Bloomberg reported that Nintendo (in early May this year) are selling the Switch2 consoles at a loss; opposite of the 1st Switch era). Their stock is also on the decline.

Even Nintendo admits Switch2 sales are bad.....

but thanks for showing us who the nintendo superfanboy is in the room!

I had a switch 2 for a week. It overheated 3 or 4 times while in dock mode during a colder time of year so I returned it. Watching repair videos, it sounds like some of the capacitors on the main board also fail frequently. At this point, I'll hold off for an eventual refresh and hope these issue will be fixed.

If it's like the Mario Kart World bundle, then it's not a code. It will most likely be same as the Mario Kart bundle which the game is linked to the hardware somehow. When you log in to the eshop on the Switch, it will say you have a game to redeem and you select. If they just have a slip with a DLC code, it's their loss if you redeemed the game and then decide to return the Switch later. I believe having the game linked to the switch, they can remove the game from your account if a return was made
The MKW bundle came in two flavors. One with a code one tied to the system itself. Not sure yet what they did for this bundle.

They projected sales UP since launch and they have met and exceeded even those very high projections. Yes they now project sales down from the first year but that doesn't mean that mean it's selling terribly. Just that it won't reach the astronomical numbers it sold its first year. Number one selling console its first year remember? And yes they are anticipating lower console sales because of the price increase. That doesn't mean the Switch 2 is a failure.

Reminder that you can now buy hardware, including this bundle, directly from Nintendo using eshop funds and Costco perpetually sells eshop cards at 10% off.

I have not heard of any widespread issues of overheating with the Switch 2. Definitely haven't heard any issues at all with capacitors going bad. What game were you playing? Maybe you got a lemon.

For a company who announced they're about to raise prices, this seems like an interesting time to offer a deal on a console. Are retailers trying to clear inventory? Is Nintendo trying to juice the sales numbers ahead of the anticipated decrease in sales after the price increase? For being just barely 1 year old, the behavior is a far cry from the original switch which sold like hot cakes for its entire life cycle. Such is the consequence of making an iterative console with only a few gimmicks and slightly better graphics compared to its predecessor. You could say the same of Xbox and PS but those consoles get lots of developers building for them compared to Nintendo's lack of 1st party entries from its biggest franchises (Mario or Zelda) and being a graphical downgrade against the other 2 consoles/their handheld equivalents and Steam has now entered the fray as well.Switch set too high of a bar and Nintendo is trying to keep riding a wave that's fading.
Switch 2 sales are still above Switch 1 and the current and upgraded last gen games are great so I don't know where all this yapping is coming from, but plenty of people feel the need to do it apparently.

Yikes. Gaming's getting out of reach.
Just wait until they announce prices on the PS6 and XBOX project Helix.
