The only thing this will beat the G5 on is motion handling and possibly upscaling due to Sony's excellent processing. But, at this point, this is a 3 year old model and should certainly not be recommended over the G5 at the same/higher price.

Not even close to a G5.

Also, the 83" G5 regularly goes for cheaper than this on LG Partner store ($3149)

The G5 is actually on another level. The only thing that can beat a G5 is a G6 when they fix all of the early bugs.

Big Sony fan here but this is a hard no. Sony picture processing is best in class but everything else on this set is outdated. You'll probably be able to get a 83" C6H for this price in a month or so.
