ugly stik has their 50th anniversary combo rod on sale right now for $50. it's essentially a gx2 6.6ft 2 piece rod. much better reliability than this rod I think. doesn't come with line though

I agree with the first comment that this will be a rod that will be on clearance probably by the end of summer and I will be looking for it. Comparing to ugly stick and no. Two different fishing presentations. The ugly stick you're going to get a a rod that's durable yet flimsy and heavy and not good for precision. It'll be a good all-around rod and reel. But I would argue this ride is much better for other type of fishing. It's a 2500 real and a sensitive rod even though it's medium, probably good for certain types of bass fishing and other type of fishing. But it's not going to be as heavy as presentation as a default ugly stick combo. Those are all around workhorses but not great like bass fishing and things like that. But you know just two different types of real and rods. I think this one it's something I'll be on the lookout for especially in other presentation combinations. The rod is actually pretty dang good.

This combo was 50% off during Black Friday last year. Sales were in the range of $25-30 for all the variants. No need to buy them now. Will be again in the price range soon.

I bought the 1500 for $36 to go trout fishing this summer. Decent deal, buy only if needed now.
