This is for potable water from municipal water supplies only, not pond or what we would consider outside water sources in the case of an emergency. As far as the downsides of this level of filtration, "removal of beneficial minerals (like calcium and magnesium), the production of significant wastewater, increased acidity, and high upfront and maintenance costs".

Anyone has any experience? Future support like filter replacement is very important.

Filters look similar/same to other companies units. This one doesn't have a carafe though. You'd be limited to whatever can fit under that spout unless you have it sitting right at the counter edge.

Why this over an under sink model? Genuinely curious.

It's good for rental units or dorms, as landlords usually won't allow you to drill a hole to install the dispenser for the under sink unit.

It will cost around 190 for filters annually. For ppc filter and t33 filter you have to replace every 6 months and RO filter is every 9 months

TDS levels are pointless without testing and knowing what's actually in your water. You could have water with TDS levels of 200-300 that are perfectly safe and good to drink and have water with TDS levels of sub-10 that contain chemicals that will kill you.

From the description it mentions near zero TDS which makes me believe it does not remineralize the water which is not ideal. So you are drinking water that is completely stripped and devoid of beneficial minerals such as magnesium, chloride, sodium, etc.

So "at LEAST" 190...

16% 1 star customer rating is unusually high. Also no NSF certification. Does not seem like a very good product overall.
Amazon also says the following:

Filter replacement schedules are really dependent on the quality of your tap water.

Calling this a 6-stage is actually deceptive when compared to under-sink systems - a metal screen nor the UV are comparable to filter stages on under-sink systems

That being said, changing filters here is a whole easier than crawing under the sink, unscrewing the filters, trying not to spill, etc.

Under sink filters also have waste water- perhaps that is why those systems have longer life on the RO membranes?
