Strange that you can get a 10-12gal shop vac for like $100 or a battery-powered 2gal for $79.

This vacuum is extremely weak compared to the competition. It was released ~13 years ago and the rest of the pack has overtaken it in the meantime, particularly in terms of CFM where most other 18V 2-3 gal shopvacs have 30-100% higher CFM. Specifically, this one sucks at 33.5 CFM, the M18s are 45-50 CFM, and the Ridgid 3 gal is 76 CFM. Even the M12 1.6-gal vac is 45 CFM. Within the 20V MAX lineup, the smaller models have more suction: the DCV517 1/2 gal has 40 CFM and the DCV501H stick has 46 CFM.

All that being said, if suction is not a priority, the pros of the weaker motor is it is quiet and has a long battery life.
