Hope they extend this deal switched to t-mobile for a few months, it's fine 99% of the time but every day there's a hiccup where the internet just hangs for about 10 seconds before kicking back in. Can't be considered a new customer till July 4th and unfortunately I don't live with anyone else.

Any idea how long it takes for Xfinity to clear out an old cable modem from an account if a new one is linked? Is it right away?
I switched back current account via app to old cable modem. Would like to sign up for new account now but don't want to have to deal with calling anyone. Not sure how long the new cable modem which was just hooked up to OLD account takes time to de-associate with OLD account so can be activated with NEW account directly in app.
Thanks!!!

I just did it and this is what worked for me: Order the new account. Wait for your new equipment to arrive (modem). Activate new modem. Return any old equipment (such as Flex stream box, modem). Then, call them to cancel old account once you are sure the new account is up and running. They will refund any prorated remaining days on the old account.

Nope. None so far. They say it takes about 24 hours to cancel old account. But you can enjoy the new one in the meantime and forget about the old one (while keeping an eye on the upcoming prorate refund Wink )

Can someone please explain how to shift account to another household member if using your own equipment? So basically cancel your account. How long does one need to create another account after cancellation of the old account? 1-2 days? Also can you use the same customer owned modem? Does Xfinity deregister the modem from the account after service cancellation? Thanks.

i can answer some of those:

gets tricky if u r using ur own equipment.
basically, the modem can not be re used for a period of time.
not sure what, but want to say 30 or maybe 90 days
so back in the day, when i did this regularly, i had 2 modems

now, i just use xfinity equipment, since my modem is a bit slow for he 1gb speed

historocally, once u cancel, the say may 25th. the service will still be on for 3-7 days.
until completely cancelled by X.
billing stops accruing from may 25th. u get free service for next 3-7 days
once that happens, i would re sign up on other person names

for this time, someone said u can sign up immediatly, by choosing i will have new account at the adress. so u dont have to wait

Does adding the one year of mobile service mean I have to pay activation fees and the government fees, or is it really $0 a month extra?

I cancelled my regular Xfinity internet ($57/mo) and signed up for Xfinity NOW Internet last week. The NOW Internet modem arrived overnight. Cost is only $30/month, so saving about $27/month. Now that I have the NOW Internet service, I can't even tell a difference compared to the regular Xfinity service. I am pegging out my old wireless router speed, getting 95-110+ Mbps download and 15-25 Mbps upload.

Check the Broadband Facts, the upload speed for the 500 plan (at least in my area) is 117. Fiber is almost always going to be symmetrical down and up, since it was designed to be used for internet, unlike the retrofitting they're doing with coax that limits the upload speeds to 1/5 of download or worse.

Is only one modem locked? Or the modem that was last active on the account? I switched to a different modem and want to change to new service with original modem. How long should I wait? 30-90 days sounds awfully long as I did something similar ~3 years ago and definitely didn't wait that long if I recall correctly

I guess another option would be to get the Xfinity modem on new account since it is free and then try switching to old modem. How long do you have to keep new modem? Returning is free? Does it affect anything like pricing if return it?
