I think it's still a very decent camera for the price, The last time it was on sale, it was listed for $999.

This is a good camera and good price for its own sake. But feature-wise, I will either save $300 to get the Z5 or save up another $300 for the Z5II (which is really a Z6 II with a much improved autofocus).

Yeah, the Nikon Z5 II for $1,224 is a good deal.

The Z5 II is a ZF in a different body. The sensor is sharper than the Z6 II sensor.

these comments know nothing about cameras?
Z6ii is garbage. That auto focus is brutally garbage. A m43 without phase detection perform better than these trash cameras. The IQ is good though. This got blow away by z5ii by a large, large margin.

I use the Z6II myself (I got it at a bargain when the Z6III was out). EXPEED 6 camera is not perfect and has its limitations, but it is usable after all the firmware updates. [On the other hand, people can still get good photos even from a D3 if they know how to use it - arguably a camera that is "less capable".]

People, It's not about the camera, it's about the photographer. A cutting edge camera in the hands of an incompetent photographer will not make him a great photographer. I crap camera in the hands of a great photographer will create great photos. Don't depend on technology. Learn skills instead. All these Professional that shoot film like 35, Medium and Large Format are creating stunning work without Autofocus and old technology. Yet even with help in focusing you complain. Until you learn basic skills no amount of Technology will make you a great photographer.

Sure the M43 is great camera. A camera that really isn't great for scenics or portrait photography. The problem with this size is that everything has to be cropped. There are no native paper size for printing. There are no sites that naturally use this size format. You waste part of the frame just fitting into standard sizes. Have you ever wondered why Olympus has always been a second tier company. It's 4x3 size is not popular.

I have had a Nikon Z6 II for almost a year. The autofocus has been ok, even in dim light. It's not as good as that of aZ5 II or a Z6 III or a Z8, etc. However, it 's ok, better than I expected. It can also shoot at 14 FPS. That's more than enough for me. With it, I have taken decent pictures of college track and field athletes competing in less than ideal light indoors. I also have a Panasonic G9 II, a micro 4/3 camera. Despite Panasonic and Olympus not dominating the digital camera market, I am very happy with the images I get with it. Reading some of the posts, I wonder whether some of the criticism of this or that camera is based on personal experience or on something that someone heard or read.

But there are things that camera features definitely help, so maybe try not to be such a photography snob? Not everyone have the time to learn what it takes to be a great photographer. It's actually kind of an insult to professional photographer to think that you could just easily learn how to use a camera to be as good as people who do it for a living. That's like saying yeah if I go on the internet, I don't really ever need to go to see a doctor, or get an accountant or a lawyer.
And there are things that skills cannot completely compensate. For example if you are shooting sports action, you are going to get better results with something that can shoot 14 fps instead of 5 fps. I don't care how good you are.

I wish people would realize that not everyone has every brand name model number memorized, so some very basic stats would definitely be appreciated. At the very least, a mirrorless camera post should include the sensor size, aps-c equivalent vs full frame vs m43. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Since this is a full frame camera how does it compare to competitors like Sony a7 iii which are pretty old but refuse to drop in price.
