$2,499 - $680 =$1,819.00. A 5080 currently goes for $1300. So $1819 - $1300 =$519.00.
The rest of the stuff adds up to about $519. Case, PSU, AIO water cooler, 2TB SSD, Win 11.
No point in wasting time building it.

This bundle is a strong foundation for a gaming PC, especially when paired with a newer GPU. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is framed as a long-lasting chip, with expectations of around five to six years of useful life, and the included RAM alone is viewed as carrying a large share of the value. The deal also stands out because DDR5 prices have been unusually high lately. The main caveat is that performance depends heavily on the graphics card and resolution, and the RAM may run at 5600 on this board despite the 6000 rating.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, especially because DDR5 prices are unusually high and the RAM alone is estimated to resell for well over $300. The CPU was also bought alone for $420 a month earlier, which makes the $679.99 bundle look strong for anyone who needs these parts.
It should be a solid gaming platform for at least 5-6 years, especially if you pair it with a newer-generation GPU. At 1080p it can give a bigger uplift, while at 1440p and 4K the CPU matters less and the GPU becomes the main limiter.
If you only need these components, the bundle is a strong buy; if you want a full system, a Micro Center prebuilt can make more sense because it includes the case, PSU, cooling, SSD, and Windows. Prebuilts can save build time, but they often cut corners on power supplies, cooling, and other parts.
It is best suited for pure gaming, while an Intel bundle may be the better fit for heavier non-gaming work. For gaming, the GPU you pair with it matters most, and the CPU's advantage shrinks as resolution rises.
Yes. The kit can simply run at 5600 if needed, and the higher speed may still be available through BIOS even when the board listing doesn't show the OC label. The practical effect is a small out-of-the-box speed cap, not a deal-breaker.

I like scouting/purchasing components and assembling PCs as much as anybody, but I take the OP's point that MC's prebuilts save you the build time and that it's a pretty safe bet that at best I'll break even getting the components myself, and the self-built means that I'm dealing with separate manufacturers for any warranty claims if anything is defective.
