Either way I own a lot of rental units and the Maytag/Whirlpool dishwashers have been quite reliable... Usually get 10 to 15 years out of them in a high use environment which isn't bad for a $500 dishwasher. I would say that the front control units tend to be more reliable than the top control units.
WDTS8024SZ, which incorporates many of the premium features of the sister brand JennAir, is also on sale. Might be worth the $221 upgrade.
