I have heard that Docs have gone sharply downhill over the years. Are the Made in England ones still high quality?
I bought the Chelsea MIE pair a few months ago and it fits so much better than my other non-MIE pairs. No break in, comfortable, and so far they are holding up well.
I have a pair of the 2976 boots. I have a love hate relationship with them. They are very well made, but they are insanely tight around the arch. I couldn't even get my foot in them at first. They take a while to stretch out. It still takes an effort to put them on and take them off now, three years later. I probably should have gone a size up and put insoles in them to make them fit, or just accept that this model just isn't made for people with a high arch.
While researching, I came across a reddit post that mentioned Solovair as a better alternative to Dr. Marten's declining quality. Then I found this interesting video where it says that Solovair used to make the soles for Dr. Marten. Not sure if all of the Solovairs are made in England either so be warned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v...VHRs&t=29s

Unfortunately you'll never find perfect unless you're willing to give an arm and a leg. I say just go with whichever one you like the look of the most as the quality will probably be the same. There are a lot of factors in longevity too like climate, activity level, and care.
Is this deal still live? I am getting a "Promo code not applied" error when trying to checkout with a pair of MIE 1460. I don't see any expiration date mention anywhere... but promo code isn't working for me any more(it was working for me when the deal was posted).
