7/11 is so scammy and wouldn't honor the free grill item promotion. They told me it only included taquitos when I got a hot dog and I proceeded to show them the offer which clearly has a photo of a hotdog as well. Got told never to come back after refusing to pay for the hot dog and leaving it there.

Wow that's crazyI've been to about 3 7-11s after finding out about the free coffee and I haven't faced something like that One owner does give me some looks with his wife I wonder if these locations get reimbursed or not. At least we are going to get these things vs them having to throw it away for sitting around so long

According to Undercover Boss, it seems like they are unaffected by it. Most 7-Elevens are still in business and they throw doughnuts out by the dozens. Good episode btw.

I give it to the 7-Eleven guy and I am usually against businesses. The business dictates what they give, not the individual redeeming or T Mobile and of course, the bad habit of walking away from something perishable purchased and now they will lose money on it. Sorry, win for 7-Eleven this time.
They have video, so coming back will be an issue...JUSTICE!
The Pizza Hut closest to me, I had the same issue for getting their $5 flatizza and I had to walk out with a parmesan shaker or red pepper shaker because they stated it did not go through (whether it was a T Mobile issue or their location was not participating). I was not a D about it and I am not banned from that location.
Yesterday, I was thrown a free cheese sticks by Pizza Hut through an email and I redeemed it no problems. If they wanted, they could have stated, "We cannot give this to you for free even though you redeemed it as free."
I would have gladly accepted that. It is called respecting the business. Should it go out of business, I may never be able to redeem other discounted deals, not necessarily free, on my next T Mobile or corporate offer.

This makes no sense. Their own app advertises it. They are choosing to not honor corporate's promotion. How does one know whether it is going to be accepted at a location. I'm not going to waste time waiting in line to check first before taking a hot dog to see if the offer is going to be accepted. This location also previously accepted the last free grill item promotion so I assumed nothing changed.
I don't really care about being banned from this location since pretty much all the 7/11s around here feel very scammy and this experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I will most likely not give 7/11 any business. This location also screwed us over on a Doordash pickup order by substituting some of our items with cheaper items.
At least with Pizza Hut you can order online in the app and see if it will be accepted or not.

Then what I would have done was get the correct item, tell the cashier to toss out the hot dog (because I did not know) and do it the correct way. The item is perishable and so they lost money on it.

Did not know about that. But if this was known, why chance it and go back?
Even here, I still do not think that location was at fault because there could have been compromise. This "not going to waste time" is an excuse. The choice to pursue the promotion is with the customer, not the business. Freedom of choice, we all have it.
I may just be super ethical about this, but it is doing it the way I described above which has never had me in these kind of situations. They cannot force one to buy something (like the hot dog); but in this situation, I could at least get the correct item and show them, through not buying the hot dog, that they owed me the free taquito (even though it was the deal that did). If they still banned me, well, their loss. I would never come back to the place either. Then that would be unreasonable.

Lesson learned I guess . Was just frustrating because he was going to make me pay for the hot dog. I didn't bother trying to change since I just wanted the hot dog and he didn't seem to care when I showed him the offer. He didn't seem to care in general and was busy talking on the phone the entire time.
I just returned because I was near there and assumed it would be a different employee but it turned out to be the same one that we had the Doordash issue with.
