Step 1: Check your Amex cards for offers. Abt.com currently has $125 cash back offer for a $900+ purchase.

Note: Not every account will have this, hence YMMV! Looks like the offer might also be different for different cardholders, including a $100 off $1,000. Mine expires on 7/31/2026, so if you want to hold out for a potentially even greater price difference, there's that option, as well.

Step 2: Abt.com will price match to Amazon via chat (they will send a secure payment link). Amazon still has it for $899. You do still pay tax on $899. For me (MN) the final price after the cash back posts will be $850.64.

Clarification: I paid $975.64, which will trigger the credit. The $850.64 price will be reflected once the offer posts.

Filler items: if you don't have sales tax, search for "corn bread" or "salsa" ($8-ish). There are also some travel accessories, like luggage locks, for $20.

Step 3: Well, there's not one, really. Abt is a certified Apple reseller, so there are no warranty issues here. Can still add AppleCare and all that.

Applies to other models, as well.

Mine was on my BBP and Delta Reserve Business. Kinda feel stupid for adding it to the Reserve because I might end up cancelling it next year and would be nice to have extended warranty. But I might end up getting AppleCare anyways.

How did you complete order after PMing via chat? Did they send you a link to complete order online?

They sent a secure payment link. Kind of sucks because you don't get CB/Amex/Bilt bonuses, but worth it in the end since those aren't super high to begin with.

AFAIK, most of the CB portals don't give cashback on Apple products.

Double check with American Express. My understanding is that once you purchase something with a card, that extended warranty and other protections persist even if you cancel that card.

Oh, yeah, good point - the chat agent also told me as much, now that I remember it.

Just to confirm — it's "Spend $900 or more and earn $125 back," right? Not "$125 off $900" like OP stated.

Also, does the $900 requirement apply to the total purchase amount before taxes, or is it excluding taxes?

That doesn't sound right. Why would it persist if you no longer have the card?

I don't think Amex ever makes that distinction. As long as the total amount that hits your card is over the threshold, you're good.

I edited the OP to reflect the cash back rather than $ off language; you're correct, it's not like a coupon, but effectively works the same. Your receipt will reflect the higher amount if you ever need it for an insurance claim or something.

The offer was "$125 cash back offer for a $900+ purchase". But OP spent only $850.64. So, offer should not apply unless a filler of ~ 50$ is added. Am I missing something?
