And if you pay attention, the Nintendo version only gets discounted down to $50. They definitely don't want the competition at a steep discount.

Nintendo fans will always be loyal no incentives for them to lower game prices. Especially first party games. Retailers still have Mario switch 1 games for $50-60. I usually waited till they hit $40 price level which is still expensive even years after release

Huh? I regularly see the Switch version for $30, and the upgrade pack is only $10 additional.
