Good point. Real leather shops would know the difference and not mix this up. I'm guessing it's "genuine" and, therefore, hard pass.

Perhaps there's some full grain leather involved somewhere on this product, but the marketing is deceptive at best. This much full grain leather would cost much more than the MSRP pre-cutting. Insanely thin leather (it is fabric lined), mostly genuine leather with some bits of full grain somewhere, goat leather, who knows, take your pick--but a true full grain leather backpack isn't walking out the door for less than 5X this price on the low end. Not saying this is a useless item or can't be valuable to someone at this price, but it shouldn't be represented as something it isn't.
