Advice needed. I have the older Kobalt 80v 630 CFM 140 MPH brushless blower. I cannot for the life of me locate the battery. Would it be better to get the 80v blower they have on sale for $199 with the extra 2.5ah battery (the battery is $179.99), or THIS one with the 4.0ah battery that seems to have less blowing power but newer ecosystem (I only have one 80v tool)?

They have this for $149. This was $129 earlier in the week.

If you want the power, the 80V $200 blower will give you that. I have it with a 4Ah battery and it's light, very powerful and lasts a long time. If power doesn't matter this one might be ok for you.

I ended up ordering the 80V kit with extra battery and sold a friend the extra blower and battery for $100. I'm giving them the new one (which is actually a little more powerful than mine (700 CFM 150 MPH). This way I don't have an aextra blower laying around with no battery. That would perturb me. lol

They did not, they just released new 80V blowers and they're awesome. Also, they have an amazing 80V zero turn 42" riding mower if you want to shell out $5,500. From what I've noticed, they're selling all their 80V equipment online now and they're still updating the equipment to be more powerful.

Oh, I was referring to the new 80V 800 CFM 200 mph blower. I got that kit with 4Ah battery & charger for $190 about a month ago. It's a great blower.

Problem with these blowers is that they drain the battery excesseding fast to the point where it goes to zero without you knowing. Charging from 0 to 100 is very bad for the battery and the battery has a very short life span. Plus it's hard to know when to stop blowing cause it won't stop at 10%. Mine all died this way and then you have to buy the battery. Sure there are internet post on how to take apart the battery and charge individual cells, but who has time for that.

I have this and it's excellent, but part of the reason I bought it is because I had a couple of other 40v tools with the same batteries. I paid $99 on sale in August 2024. Things don't usually go down in price in this economy.

I just bought this wall mount for it about a month ago. It's perfect:

Smoking deal! I have 3 of these. The batteries and blower perform much better than my M18 Milwaukee blower (and for a fraction of the price).

They were going to a couple years ago but then resigned a manufacturing agreement with Globe tools group to keep manufacturing them but they only sell the 80V lineup online now not in stores. The 40V and 80V kobalt tools are rebadged greenworks tools that Globe owns.

Are you sure it actually charges to 100%? And discharges to 0?
Most of these tools have protections where it's only charging to 90% and discharging to 10%. Same with phones and EVs.
