This is definitely true, (and I'll give you a thumbs up!) but I've found Anbernic has been shipping many of their handhelds over at least the past year with fairly good quality Kioxia (Toshiba Spinoff) cards rather than the junk we usually see in under $100 handhelds. I've had good luck with those light blue 64GB Kioxia cards. I've used 3 of them so far this year with wipes, rewrites and custom firmwares and haven't had a single problem with any of them.

Big extended writes that heat up the SD card are the usual cause of death for the cheap cards, and I've filled each of them several times over with ~60GB of PS1/SNES/N64 Roms without issues after flashing and testing various firmware.

It doesn't matter which one of these you buy, just make sure to swap the memory card out with a known name brand. That will make your experience so much better.

It's not a bad offer, but I'd go for the Arbernic RG35XX plus It's more up-to-date, but the one you posted isn't bad for the price.

Good price, even if this handheld is starting to lose its edge (compared to other Anbernic devices or comepetitors like the G350).

It's called the Anbernic RG35XX Plus.

Isn't the H700 chipset the plus? Is this the one that worked with Garlic OS?

A bit confusingly, Anbernic released the RG35XX Plus [anbernic.com] first (with the H700 chipset and a few other additions like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, larger battery capacity, removable battery cover, revised shoulder buttons, revised casing, etc.).

Then a little while later, they released this model for cheaper - calling it the "New RG35XX [anbernic.com]" (2024) - which is more or less the same 'body' and battery size as the original 2023 RG35XX that you've mentioned, but with the H700 chipset. This one lacks some of the Plus' features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, bigger battery, has the older shoulder buttons of the 2023 model. etc.

I'm not sure what I have, but I bought it before there was any "Plus" or any other RG35XX. Battery capacity was small (common upgrade that people would do including myself) Dpad was bad, as in, you would hit diagonals. I shaved off about 1mm from the pads to fix that issue but it wasn't fun.

Not sure if they fixed these. Also, it had a lovely HDMI out, but no BT so controller options were limited.

Sounds like you could have this one or the original 2023 RG35XX; since those only support 2.4GHz wireless controllers (no Bluetooth). Easiest way to know is to look at the label on the back: If it says RG35XX Plus (I know, confusing), but doesn't have Bluetooth - that's the model on sale in this thread. If it just says RG35XX, that's the o.g. 2023 model that could run Garlic OS custom firmware, as mentioned earlier.

This is very uncomfortable if you have hands larger than a child's. Get the horizontal console layout, this is only good for kids or tiny hand people IMO.
