Back down to the original launch price.
I've been using this as my main work laptop since April. No issues with any software so far including more niche stuff like Tableau Desktop, Checkpoint VPN, Insta360 Studio. Only incompatibility has been the PCI-E pass-through 2.5Gbe Ethernet driver on my HP G4 Thunderbolt 4 Dock because HP doesn't have a driver for this platform.
Very fast, super quiet, huge RAM etc. etc. that you can see reviews for. This model has on-die RAM (SiP memory) like Apple M chips; lower X2 SKUs are not on-die

This ZenBook A16 stands out as a very fast, very light 16 inch OLED laptop with 48GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB SSD. The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme gets praised for strong benchmark performance, quiet operation, and much better app compatibility than earlier ARM laptops. The 3K 120Hz touch screen and generous port selection add to the appeal. Main cautions are ARM compatibility for some software and printers, weaker battery life around 10 hours on a good day, and a poor trackpad. A solid value if those tradeoffs fit your setup.
Power users running heavy multitasking, because the 48GB RAM and very fast CPU make it feel like a powerhouse.
Buyers comparing against pricier premium laptops, because its performance and features land well below many $2K-plus alternatives.
Traveling professionals who want a large-screen laptop, because it is very light despite the 16-inch OLED display.
People who want a quiet premium laptop for media and work, because it runs dead silent with a sharp 3K 120Hz OLED screen.
People who need dependable Windows app and printer compatibility, because ARM compatibility can still be a risk and printer drivers may remain problematic.
Gamers or all-day unplugged workers, because battery life can be only about 10 hours on a good day.
People who rely on a precise trackpad for long sessions, because the trackpad is described as poor for such an expensive laptop.

I've been eyeing open box to see if the price goes down further but now @ $1599 for a brand new one, I might just have to try it out!

It's X2E-94-100 not X2E-96. That's about 300 MHz slower.
The battery life is somewhat weak. Maybe 10 hours on a good day.
Trackpad is garbage for such an expensive laptop.
Very fast CPU. Nice screen. Very light.
I do still have my S16 but the A16 is such a powerhouse of a laptop for the price, that YES, I've been eyeing it. I'd sell my S16 if I got the A16 as I don't need two 16" laptops (three, actually, as I have a 16" MBP).
