These tear super easy. I'd recommend going with the 7 or 9 mil if you are doing any sort of work. If you just need some protection for things like crafts they are probably fine, but if you are working on your car you'll need to constantly swap them out.

If you're working with sharp edges, thicker gloves is where you start. I use 3 mil nitrile gloves for things like changing oil and rotating tires. That's all I've ever needed. Maybe the problem is the manufacturer or the batch and not the specific thickness.
