I've heard someone say it's not good for lug nuts which I get. Will this help for brake jobs to R&R?

You'd want an impact wrench for lug nuts.

No for heavy duty nuts and bolts you want an impact. And you need to verify it has more than 400 ft lbs of torque for lug nuts on average. Ratchets even powered ones are for less demanding nuts and bolts.

Would this be good for getting nuts off lawnmower blades? That's the only real reason I need one. I know they have the extended reach / brushless one. But $99 is cheaper for a tool I'll use every once in a while than $199 (battery package kits obviously).

You need a impact for that.

Nope. This is just to make it faster to remove easy studs, like ones holding down hoses/clamps or in a valve cover. Nothing that's super tightened down or stubborn.

The extended neck brushless is good for cars. Waiting for that one.

All.... Please check the specs before buying and do some research. Most bolts on a car are installed with high torque value, and most require a lot to remove as well. This only has 35 lb/ft of torque. Most lug nuts, brake caliper bolts, and lawn mower blade bolts are installed well over 70 lb/ft, which require much greater forces than that to break free for removal. You can use this by manually pulling on it to break some nuts free, and then use the battery and mechanical portion of this tool to fully remove them. This is for a lighter jobs....
