Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is a compact Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gaming tablet that stands out for strong performance, a good LCD screen, vapor chamber cooling, and a small form factor that works well for emulation and game streaming. The two USB C ports and gaming profiles make controller setups and fast charging more flexible, and the tablet can be turned into a handheld with accessories like the G9 or Razer Kishi. The main drawbacks are the missing microSD slot, removed headphone jack, and limited Lenovo software update support. It is a solid small tablet if you can live with the storage and software tradeoffs.

As for the ports. Typically you will use this device in landscape orientation. The port on the side (where the controller attaches) is USB 2.x. The bottom port is USB 3.x. I use that one for fast charging. If it only had one port, a bluetooth controller would cover a port in one or the other orientation. I have used a Gamesir G8+ (bluetooth) with this tablet as well. I prefer the Legion G7 controller because it is lighter (but it is made by Gamesir and is s a variant of the G8).
I personally dont attach an SSD/Hub/Card Reader while using a controller, but some people do. The other case where this matters is if you buy a Legion G9 controller, you will need two ports. The G9 fully encases the tablet inside of a controller that feels just like a Legion Go or other handheld. (I am not a bit fan of the G9 though....tried it.) The problem is if you didnt have to ports, you wouldnt be able to charge in both orientations.
The performance profile is controlling the processor. You can choose, economy, balanced, or perforfmance. This is common on Android focused handhelds/tablets and allows you to match your processor/power consumption to your game. It is present on my Legion and Ayaneo devices at least.
Very surprised that you are buying the new Legion with a SD 8 Gen 5 chip when the upcoming Red Magic has such a better screen. And having two usb ports is not that important... IMHO.
You have two tablets...
Same CPU, same hard drive. But one tablet has a much better screen. And the one with the worse screen is more expensive. So, why do you buy the inferior product that is more expensive... You don't have to answer that questions cause what ever your answer is, I will not understand it.
So I am personally not loyal to any company... I am only loyal to specs.

Some people (a large chunk) just don't care about spec and price.

Between the new Legion and the new Astra... They both have the same OS (unlike your example). They both share the same software unlike your example. Basically, both devises are pretty much IDENTICAL, except one has a MUCH BETTER screen.
The example you gave are for two completely different products... no software can be used on both. Also, there is ONE company that makes apple phones and there are dozens of companies that make android phones including the Trump phone which is assembled in the USA. Also, your point is lost... cause apple agreed that OLED is the way to go and ALL their phones are OLED today. I will add that the most recent security update for the iPhone 6 (iOS 12.5.8) was released on January 26, 2026...lol.
There is only two ways your tablet communicates with you... through sound and vision. Having a OLED screen is truly a game changer.
I started with the Tab 8 which was LCD and I HATED the screen, then I went to the Tab 9 which is OLED and it was a game changer.
There is almost no argument you can say where I would reasonable agree with you, especially with how much I hated the Tab S8 and how much I liked the Tab S9 all because of the screen technology.
I will go back to the apple vs Samsung thing... While the Galaxy S5 often looked "stronger" in synthetic benchmarks that heavily weighted core count, the Apple A8 was widely regarded as the faster, more capable chip in real-world usage and sustained gaming performance.

- Lenovo warranty and service
- Screen - Red Magic is OLED, I dont buy my devices based upon OLED or IPS
- USB Placement - Lenovo…side and bottom in the middle. Red Magic has a goofy off center placement that makes you want to use Bluetooth. I already have Legion G7 controller and Razer Kishi Ultra
- Productivity: Lenovo desktop mode and a PC screen extension app - Not available on the Red Magic
- Lenovo Pen Plus - No pen available on the Red Magic
- Google. Play Certification - Red Magic devices are reportedly losing it sometimes causing apps to become incompatible. This has been an issue with the small batch Chinese device manufacturers
If you cant understand that, not sure what to say. Do you own any of the devices that you are discussing? Which model?Lastly, you can read the reviews... see what people say between the two tablets.

The screen is one of my most important things that I consider when I buy a device... can not imagine anyone who is knowable with devices saying what you said. But I think you never had a OLED tablet before.
Yes USB placement is a bit strange, but I have a joystick that works fine (BT).
You can easily connect your RedMagic to an external monitor (big screen).
Redmagic can use a pen but there is no active pen support that the Lenovo has... but I don't see to many users using a pen and you need to buy them seperately.
I understand a lot more as to why someone would want the Y700 over the RedMagic, I do not agree with it at all but I now understand it much better. Thank you.

That is a TERRIBLE example...

I own the redmagic 9.06" and others.
Don't have issues with warranty. Never heard of a phone or tablet braking without user error.

Warranty - I have had several tablets that needed repairs/replacement over the years. However not recently to your point. It is probably less important and my risk aversion may be a bit unfounded.
Red Magic is a great device. Enjoy it! Lenovo has just been better for my multi-purpose needs (gaming, personal, noted, work). I often carry just my tablet in lieu of a laptop.
And I am telling you that their new tablet will be released later this month. It will have
1. OLED screen which will do 1600nits and 185Hz. But it is not all roses, Redmagic did not pay for Dolby Vision or HDR10+. But it is still one of the better media viewing tablets our there.
2. 8300ma battery
3. The best cooling chamber in the industry
4. But no SD card slot, and only one USB C (off center).
5. But it is the price... if it is 550 or 600, something to considered.

Redmagic has one of the worst inventory management of any company out there. They come across as a strictly crowdfunding outlet to me. Unless you preorder their first batch of a product, you're basically SOL. They're so bad that I don't take them seriously as a consumer electronics company. They're almost on the same level as a random AliExpress seller, with the difference being that the AliExpress seller probably has the item in stock instead of being perpetually out of stock like Redmagic.
And today, they are coming out with the next version this month.
