I didn't down vote, my guess is they, like many products these days, are trading on the name of a renown product. "Real" Wolverine 1000 mile boots are made in USA, built on a Goodyear welt and cost $350-400. These are not that. They're probably pretty nice for the price.

Why the thumbs down on these? Are these not a good boot?

Every time you hear that sound, a marketingperson gets their horns.

Look up Anvil rose on youtube, this guy buys boots and slices them in half. Sub-$300 Wolverine boots are cheap quality/materials and poorly built and even their pricier models dropped in quality significantly over recent years. They want you to have to buy a pair each season, not for them to last

I sometimes wonder if Goodyear welting is nowadays an ancient, overrated feature.
I've never had a cemented sole fail on me, and I've never felt that a sole replacement was worth the cost of materials and labor.
Just my 2 cents.

If you work in oil/water/mud, cement construction boots will absolutely fall sooner than welted boots. Whether re-soleing makes sense is completely dependent upon the condition of the uppers and how in love with them you are. If you've got a pair of broken in $400 boots that will survive another sole, it's totally worth it in my mind.

That's a fair take. But I've had cemented soles fail, and when I've got a pair of comfortable broken in leather boots, I'd rather get a new sole than new boots.
The last time my cemented sole boots failed, they had been discontinued. With resoleable boots I could have kept them going for years.

And yet promotes boots that he gets commissions on. He's not unbiased so take his reviews with a grain of salt. Compare him to say Project Farm who refuses to take sponsorships or receive products from manufacturers to review. Rose Anvil does collabs with competitors and takes in products from manufacturers. Plus he reviews $150 boots against $500 boots rather than $150 vs $100-$200 boots. He thinks his audience is dumb and yet some of them go along with it, so I guess he knows his audience. I've watched him 10 years ago and realized who he is. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

They are more likely to be used for casual and fashion with very light work. It doesn't have the durability of the non-legacy boots.

They're a great boot and 1000% worth the $80. I have Truman, Iron Ranger, Allen Admonds, 3 pairs of 1000 mile. The 1000 miles I can wear all day and don't even notice my feet. Just a bunch of snobs since I don't think 1000 mile are made in US anymore.
