I wouldn't settle for a DRAM-Less QLC drive even in a time like this. The 4TB SN850X is currently at $599. If you can wait, it should go on sale soon on Amazon's Prime Day.

The WD Blue SN5100 4TB is a low power PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drive that stands out for laptop, handheld, and PS5 storage, with some calling it a strong value for a 4TB name brand drive. The low power draw and heat make it appealing for compact devices, and the capacity is attractive in a market where 4TB SSDs have stayed expensive. The main concern is that it is DRAM less QLC, which raises durability and performance worries compared with TLC drives. Pricing also appears to vary by store, with some locations showing $349.99 and others $399.
The drive can be a practical option for multi-year storage needs during the ongoing memory crisis.
The WD Blue SN5100 can suit low-power laptop and handheld builds because DRAM-less NVMe drives draw less power and heat.
The $349.99 price can look strong relative to typical name-brand 4TB SSD pricing ranges mentioned in the discussion.
The SN5100 can be a good value for some buyers even with QLC NAND, especially when comparing it to other SN5000 configurations.
The listing may not include a heatsink, and buyers may need to add one separately for thermals.
The $349.99 price can be inflated versus earlier pricing, and some buyers may prefer waiting for lower storage-cycle prices.
DRAM-less QLC can deliver worse random access latency and performance drops when data is not cached.
DRAM-less QLC can also raise durability concerns because QLC is described as wearing out faster than TLC.

The WD Blue line is one of the most power efficient out there, only better DRAMless handheld drives would be Lexar NM790, but those are retailing over 650 USD.
It's just a cheaper inflated price.
If you need a 4TB NVMe drive, now is probably the time to buy. If you don't, I'd wait. Storage prices move in cycles, and eventually they'll come back down.
But seriously, it was the 4tb SN850X and it crapped out on me in 3 years so I'm already not a big fan of WD's nvme
But the price is high due to AI companies... not due to people buying it. And the industry says it will be like this for at least 3 years. And the memory companies do not want to invest Billions in a new plan and new equipment.

Not buying product right now does nothing to hurt the ones doing the price gouging - the Ai datacenters will continue to be constructed and eating up all the memory if every last one of us stops buying anything. That's why we're in this memory crisis to start with, as they couldn't be bothered if we buy their product or not.
But I'd spend a solid 75 USD extra in gas prices and take up a full day to drive up and back to get this. It's not a great time to be a consumer in any category, but really sucks for us computer/electronic leaning folk.

Nvme drives without dram draw far less power and heat - as such they are the drive of choice for almost any handheld and most laptop devices.
