I wouldn't settle for a DRAM-Less QLC drive even in a time like this. The 4TB SN850X is currently at $599. If you can wait, it should go on sale soon on Amazon's Prime Day.

The WD Blue line is one of the most power efficient out there, only better DRAMless handheld drives would be Lexar NM790, but those are retailing over 650 USD.
It's just a cheaper inflated price.
If you need a 4TB NVMe drive, now is probably the time to buy. If you don't, I'd wait. Storage prices move in cycles, and eventually they'll come back down.
But seriously, it was the 4tb SN850X and it crapped out on me in 3 years so I'm already not a big fan of WD's nvme
But the price is high due to AI companies... not due to people buying it. And the industry says it will be like this for at least 3 years. And the memory companies do not want to invest Billions in a new plan and new equipment.

Not buying product right now does nothing to hurt the ones doing the price gouging - the Ai datacenters will continue to be constructed and eating up all the memory if every last one of us stops buying anything. That's why we're in this memory crisis to start with, as they couldn't be bothered if we buy their product or not.
But I'd spend a solid 75 USD extra in gas prices and take up a full day to drive up and back to get this. It's not a great time to be a consumer in any category, but really sucks for us computer/electronic leaning folk.

Nvme drives without dram draw far less power and heat - as such they are the drive of choice for almost any handheld and most laptop devices.
