The Edge Explore 2 is a navigation focused Garmin bike computer that pairs well with Varia and ANT plus sensors, while also handling basic ride stats and dynamic routing. It feels like a simpler Edge 1040, with a newer touch interface and a larger screen that works well for recreational riding and offloading navigation from a phone. The main tradeoffs are shorter battery life than MIP based models and fewer advanced training metrics, plus no dedicated mountain bike mode. It is also the least expensive Garmin bike computer in this range, though some cheaper alternatives exist.

How is the route setup process on the Geode? Any weird quirks? It says it supports automatic re-routing on the fly; is there any option to give roads a preference rating (i.e. mark a less-direct road as bike friendly to use that instead of a quicker, more heart-attack inducing road)?
Or is there an (android) app I could use and get the same benefit?
i use ridewithgps but with app open (phone on handlebar). works beautifully.
edit: apparently the geoid works with varia. so i might give that a try.
the bigger 2.8" Geoid is only $10 more ($60)

Mine works with varia (CC600).
I currently use my phone for music and varia where the varia alerts interrupt music as needed. works great.
if it still worked like that with geoid/phone combo, i would buy geoid
