I need something like this to grate Pecorino or parmesan super fine, like snow. How fine can these get?

These are great when you are having to grate, but I have cracked more than one shredding stuff. They are easy to throw in the dishwasher. I'm hoping the one I currently have holds up until I find a less expensive model that is made out of metal. The salad master my mother owns is still going from the 60s, but it's stainless steel.

I have one similar that I got from Costco. It breaks down into individual pieces and can be put in the dishwasher.

By the way, I like mine a lot and use it all the time. Way less of a pain to use and clean than the $200 food processor we never use.

Do Costco still have them? Can you please share the model/link?

I have one from a different brand and use it to make hash browns. Our family loves it, and it's already paid for itself by us not eating out.

I don't have this one, but have a very similar concept. First, I love these things. If you're shredding a fair amount, this thing is low effort when compared to a more traditional flat grater.
As to your question on how easy to clean…it's a pain if you wait and don't rinse immediately once you're done. So much so that I won't use it unless I can commit to also rinsing with hot water and scrubbing immediately after using. But if you clean right after using, it's not much worse than scrubbing off a plate. If you wait, you're going to deal with hard cheese stuck in the small holes and want to throw it out the window.
