Who exacted is this laptop targeted to? I know this is a gaming laptop so only gamers? So anyone that doesn't game, this laptop is way unnecessary then? Or people who are creators still use this? The one thing is this laptop screen size is smaller though.

So if you use it as a regular laptop for web browsing and youtube, is the battery still going to get you at least 5 hours? I heard gaming laptops batteries are really bad but this asus is different or it isn't? I recalled an older model similar one people said you could get at least 7 hours even? I find this a bit hard to believe if you are using the laptop the entire time without any break?

So the main reason for this high cost is the 5080 right and the 32gb ram but mainly the graphics card? What is the regular graphics card it uses when it isn't using the 5080? It's the regular AMD Radeon? So by default, laptop uses which graphics card and you need to switch it depending on what you are doing?

Isn't it also true that gaming laptops heat and if it's a smaller laptop like this, then it gets heated faster?

Do people connect this to external monitors usually or they usually use it as a laptop? But if you using it to do any gaming, you have to have it plugged in an outlet right? The thing is what if you are using it with plugged in? If say you use an anker 737 powerbank with it, does it drain really fast? The charger that comes with it has to be like 200W or 250W right?
Not only gamers, also people who want to run a local LLM would like the 5080. But yes for MOST people ANY 2k+ laptop is way unnecessary. The smaller size, weight etc is for people who travel a lot. Most people in this laptop class are going to have nice desk setups at home for gaming at home with big monitors etc, so the screen size is mostly about how much lighter it is for travel and USUALLY (not always) about battery life. Downsides other than the obvious viewable screen is that you have less space for cooling in this size, which is why the 5080 is lower TDP than normal.

No gaming laptop on the market has good battery life WHILE gaming, but plenty have 5+ hour run times since you mentioned it specifically. My Legion 5 15" with a Ryzen 350 does 6+ hours pretty easily just general wifi use. But you can find gaming laptops in the 14-16" range that will last 12+ hours on a charge. But then the same size etc without a GPU you can find laptops that last 18+ Stick Out Tongue

Laptop auto switches based on what you are doing generally speaking. But yeah when you are on battery it's going to use the built in Radeon, which is no slouch for integrated. Like you could plaly Baldurs Gate 3 on medium on a 1080 resolution with the 890M. It performs similar to like a 1650 from a few years back. Not what you want to rely on for gaming, but again the fact that it can game, means it will do EVERYTHING non gaming you want on battery.

Depends on the laptop, that's what reviews are for though. Build matters, TDP matters etc. Really can't just blanket say "it's high heat if it's a gaming laptop".

Yes the charger is like 250-300. IDK If the ASUS will let you run the GPU and game on like a 100W charger or not, my Legion 5 won't let me run the CPU on performance even if I turn the GPU off which is annoying as hell, but a choice by Lenovo not something inherit.

Oh meant to say, this thing is sweet, no opinion on price, only thing I don't love is with these specs 32 GBs of soldered on ram seems limiting long term.

Isn't a 5080 superior and top of the line then? So it isn't as good as a 5070ti but better than 5070? And much better than 5060 and much superior than 5050?

I always heard people said small laptops as in 14' and below with a very fast graphics card would heat up and it's bad for the laptop and these laptops go bad earlier than average size laptops that are 15' and higher. So that isn't true then?

So the most hours a laptop can use while gaming is at most 2 hours right? But if it's like an acer nitro, it might be 30 minutes? What I always read people complain about with gaming laptop is you might get an hour or so even while not gaming. Some even say they have their advanced graphics card off but is that still possible? This is assuming a new laptop and not one with a worn battery.

What laptop let alone gaming laptop gives you 12 hours on a charge? That has to be big exaggeration right? So that means you use it for a bit and then screen goes off for a bit and then you use it later on right? No laptop can give that much battery though? So you are saying you use chrome for 10 hour straight nonstop, battery can last that long? I can't find this true because I have an acer chromebook that advertises at least 8 hours of battery and when I first got the chromebook, I get 3.5 hours max I think. This is when using it continuously and with brightness at 100%. I wasn't even playing any youtube videos or music. The only way you can get 8 hours on chromebook is if you use it for 30 minutes and then don't use the laptop for a few hours and then use it again.

What laptop would even last 8 hours let alone 18 hours? I can't even imagine a macbook allowing 8 hours? So brightness is at max 50% and so is sound then right?

So the issue with laptops that are gaming laptops is charger is always like 250 to 300 watts right so it's heavier? My xps 15 9520 has a 130w standard charger. So you can't even use a lower watt charger for a gaming laptop? So you can't use a 130w charger on a lenovo legion?
When I got the xps 15 9520 a while back, I believe you could even get a 3060 at the time as well but that cost more. But that still wouldn't make it a gaming laptop right? What exactly makes a laptop a gaming laptop? A gaming laptop must have an advanced graphics card and not the regular default one right? What else? I don't know why the xps isn't considered a gaming laptop then?

5090 is top of the line for laptops with 24GB VRAM. (very slow compared to the desktop version with 32GB VRAM)

5080 is 2nd, with 16GB VRAM

5070 TI is ~15% slower with 16 VRAM.

AI said it's not worth doing to spend $700 more on 5080 on asus rog g14 because it's so thin and it will not be performing as we expected. So I took the advice and got a 5070ti (12Gb VRAM) instead.

5070 TI in laptops is 12 GBs and I think more like 20-25% slower but not 100% on that.

Yep. I was going to post this. I had researched it before and because of wattage and thin design it doesn't perform the best.

That part I am not sure, I was looking at the desktop and I assumed maybe it is similar performance difference

Laptop GPU has weird gimping here and there and I really do not like the laptop 5090 I have because its performance is way way way slower than even a 5080 desktop. Someone said laptop 5090 is like a desktop 5070 but I never benchmarked it since I don't have a 5070 desktop.

I do have 24GB VRAM but it's just soooo slow it's annoying.

I bought this laptop for 2k on a rare open box sale and got total tech for 2 yrs. It's been nothing but amazing. No issues whatsoever it was like new. Plays any game I throw at it on the highest settings. No need for me to buy anything else. Perfect light weight 14inch. Run G-helper and watch movies on it all day with no worries about battery.
