I returned it, no issue and got it exchanged. Second unit had the telltale smell of a smoker's house. The air it put out smelled awful. It had the exact same smell if you sit in a smoker's car.
I returned that one too and bought something else entirely.

I've had it for a year, and it's a life-saver. I use it in a 3-car garage (insulated) to keep temps manageable on cold or hot days. That's honestly a bigger space than this unit is designed to handle, but if I give it a 30 minute head start, it does very well. If you're just using this in a regular room, this thing will work fast and well!
For a $230 solution that makes your space comfortable, it's a deal!

My biggest mistake was listening to all the Youtuber's and not getting one sooner - there are videos everywhere saying these portable air conditioners don't work and that you either need the in-wall units, window units, central air, etc. As a renter, I obviously can't just put one on my window since it's against code (e.g. drop on someone's head) or cut a hole in my wall to add another one. The in-wall AC in the living room essentially only gets cold enough to cool the living room, dining room, and kitchen; so for ~3 years, my bedroom was always like a sauna when it's >80F outside. My speculation is these Youtuber's aren't installing it correctly and the hot air is not being pushed outside.

Two year warranty via all-state makes it worth it as you recoup the price you paid for the unit minus tax. Chase sapphire preferred will give you an extra year.
