Cheaper than a service call to replace a capacitor these days.

The 115v 12k BTU version is $426 after coupon.

Note, the white poly foam that comes on these cheap linesets is known to cause a corrosive reaction between the copper and condensation that forms and will result in pinhole leaks over time. Remove and replace with UV resistant black foam, like K-Flex Titan. You can get it online directly from somewhere like SupplyHouse. Also, do both lines, unlike traditional condensers both lines need to be insulated.

As previous poster mentioned, do also use Nylog on the flare faces. That $10 will save you hundreds in leaks.

Paid similar for the 120v version last year and am overall happy with it. DIY is a bit of a pain, but buying the vacuum pump, nylog, and taking your time saves ~$300

Only if you don't consider the installation cost.

PLEASE read the One Star reviews on this. If it goes inoperative, you are SOL.

I was going to say changing the insulation sounds like a lot of work just replace with a good lineset like streamline but then you would be spending more for the lineset than the entire hvac unit.

2 star reviews are probably from people who DIY installed and had no idea what they were doing. I don't know who the OEM is on this but I would say much more likely to be install error.

Which review are you talking about? Most are people ranting about UPS damage or it not working upon install (likely an install problem). The only review I saw where someone claimed their "WATER PUMP FAILED"...and "THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT RESPONDING." Likely because this unit doesn't have a water pump....LOL. I'm sure they mean condensation pump...but it doesn't appear to ship with one of those either since 99% of wall mount mini splits are gravity drain. If I were the mfg, I'd likely ignore their emails as well.

FWIW, any of these no name mini splits are going to be a gamble buying replacement parts. If you want parts availability (long term) you'll need to stick to Mitsu, Fujitsu, LG, Carrier, etc since parts are rarely interchangeable on mini splits between brands. But those big brands aren't sold on DIY platforms so be prepared to pay 2-3K+ for install.

how long until people start running the 120v variants out their windows for heating and cooling year round? Seriously.. trying to find a low profile window heat pump is near impossible at these prices

One star reviews make me think that the name should be changed to yeet-a-home.

One of our neighbor's house burned down when their cheap mini-split caught fire. Two months later, same thing happened to my dad's neighbor. Be careful folks.

I got the 3 head unit from them directly last year. Installation was a learning process but I was able to stack some cashback on top of a sale and I feel like I got away with a robbery. Kind of want this one for the garage. I put an energy monitor on it and they sip power compared to my 10SEER Central HVAC from the 90s.

I love saving money but this is why I'm not getting a cheap DIY mini-split. Window units nowadays are inverter and some even have heat at a similar price point. Not worth burning your house down with some no-name when you have safer UL listed alternatives.

It's a 5 minute job. Slice off existing poly foam with utility knife, slip on replacement, re-tape any seams, done.

Quit your fear mongering. These aren't actually 'no name' units, they're all white labeled units from the largest manufacturers in the world. This particular one is made by AUX Group and sold under a variety of other brand names. Similar to how Carrier / Bryant, Moovair, MrCool, ACIQ and a ton of other brands are all Midea units (Carrier has now transitioned to a proprietary Toshiba OEM unit). Point is, they make and sell millions of these, replacement parts are ubiquitous and finding them is as easy as finding the part number on the part and Googling it. And they are perfectly electrically safe.

Fires occur when the installer is an idiot.
