Spectacular deal for an incredibly versatile speaker: the rotatable tweeter allows it to be used as a horizontal center AND as vertical L/R mains or surrounds! The AMT folded ribbon tweeter provides extended and crystal clear highs with zero harshness unlike many metal domes. Rear porting allows for a respectable 50Hz F3 and 88db sensitivity.
At this jaw-dropping $229, nothing on the market comes close to it in price-to-performance. As long as the simple black cabinets don't cause a WAF eruption 🤣, you could easily build a long-term "keeper" system dirt cheap (5 for $1150)!

The XC1 is a 3 way center and LCR speaker that stands out for its ribbon tweeter, natural tone, and strong off axis clarity. It fits shorter TV setups well, and the 88 dB sensitivity plus smooth highs make it appealing for home theater, especially when crossed to a sub. The main tradeoffs are its size, rear porting, and power needs, since it wants space and clean amplification to avoid sounding muddy. A solid fit when the room and amp can support it.

Emo even states these are for "smaller spaces".
The RCs are definitely not!
These definitely need a sub with any content, the RCs do not.
The RCs get quite a bit better reviews also.

Is there anything in particular about the RC-LCRs' performance that you wish were better? Sometimes small changes in speaker positioning and (especially) receiver settings can make a big difference...while costing you nothing.
Looking forward to the new Dolby AC-4! That should make them sound better.

People passively going with the default post-calibration settings on their receivers instead of manually tweaking-to-taste is a VERY common cause of an underperforming system. This is another consequence of industry marketing propaganda: people imagine that room correction tools are somehow infallible and a push-one-button-and-presto magic bullet.
Whether it's worth it is a personal choice.
Only way to actually know if it's worth it is to listen, not as easy to do nowadays.
As great as the new algorithms are, they don't improve the quality of speakers/equipment.
People often overlook/dismiss proper implementation & calibration.
As incredible as higher end RCs(ie DLBC/ART, Trinnov,RP) are, not doing proper implementation 1st, you're putting the cart before the horse.
If you truly want to improve your sound, invest in quality speakers & properly set them up.
These inexpensive/budget options are just that budget performance.
Contrary to popular belief, there really isn't a shortcut to this.

$229 for it would be very impressive, indeed. It has the advantage of front porting vs the XC1's rear porting. However, the XC1 enjoys a significant 3db sensitivity advantage (88db vs 85 on the ELAC). I'd imagine both perform well though.
PS. If you can live without the flat rate return shipping, Adorama has the 504C ii for $450: https://slickdeals.net/f/19598142

With a center, the dialogue just doesn't sound like it's coming from the mouths on screen, but from the speakers on the bottom center. Doesn't sound like an environment. Maybe some better placement, EQing and matching timbre speakers can make it sound seamless but as of now it doesn't sound seamless, sonically.
