my use case is bathroom dehumidifying during showers bc theres no exhaust fan. this is very high humidity removal for like 20min a day vs what i will be purchasing a new unit for my basement likely running 24/7 until dead winter.

This Midea 50 pint smart dehumidifier is best known for strong moisture removal and long-running basement or bathroom use, with the built in pump making drainage easier than manual dumping. Several long term reports describe two years or more of steady operation, and the phone app is genuinely useful for monitoring humidity. The main drawbacks are noise, noticeable room heat, and a humidity sensor that can run below the setpoint or short cycle. Pump failures and occasional odor or fan issues also appear, so it suits spaces where performance matters more than quiet.
Basement owners needing steady moisture removal, because it can run 24/7 for years and still pull a lot of water from humid spaces.
People who want a built-in pump for automatic drainage, because the pump feature works well for long stretches and can feed a sink or drain line.
Shoppers who can tolerate noise in a utility space, because it dehumidifies effectively even though the fan is loud.
Bathroom users without an exhaust fan, because it handles short daily bursts of very high humidity well.
Bedroom or living-room use, because the fan is loud enough to be distracting in occupied spaces.
Users depending on the pump for nonstop drainage, because the pump can fail after a season or two and may not keep up with continuous use.
Buyers who need precise humidity control, because the internal sensor can read inaccurately and keep the unit running past the setpoint.
People who want a cool room in summer, because the unit adds noticeable heat while it runs.

Side note- I always buy my dehumidifiers from costco due to their excellent return policy. Consumer grade dehumidifiers only seem to last 3-5 years with moderate to heavy usage. My last one (of a different brand, Midea) only lasted one year, replaced under manufacturer warranty, then that one broke two years later. I returned that to costco, they looked up the receipt, and gave me costco cash, which I purchased this model with. If and when this one dies I'll do the same thing again.
Have the Hisense now which is more powerful but noticed the pump isn't designed to keep up if it runs non stop so will switch to gravity drain.

My 3 units have been running on max 24/7 for several years without any issues.
They require cleaning the filters every few months and cleaning the p-trap on the drains about once a year.
They do very well at pulling water out of the air, but be aware they produce heat as a byproduct and will heat the room they are in over time.
