My $.02- this is a good deal with a couple catches:
  1. Obviously the tools are brushed. They will all work just fine and outlast most homeowner's needs, but brushless are better.
  2. Also obviously, there are some filler tools here. That's both good and bad. On the good side, you might run into a situation 8 years down the road where you need a sawzall, and having one in your garage would be handy. On the bad side, I think there's a temptation to do the "SD math" and look at this as ~$40/tool and think that's amazing, when in actuality your denominator is more like 4 than 8.
If I were a new-ish homeowner (or renter) without tools, I think I would be really tempted to get the Bosch 12v Brushless Flex tool that is/was on sale for $140 at Amazon the past couple days: https://www.amazon.com/GSR12V-300...084Q4143Y/
I would bet that 80% of a typical person's tool use is driving, and 15% drilling. That guy does both of those things perfectly well- and the different angles for driving is way more handy than you realize until you're trying to assemble furniture and there's a really tight fit. Plus, it's small enough that you can put it on the top shelf of a closet somewhere.
I have that Bosch. It is nice. At 12v it is light and comfortable to use with the assorted attachments. But a drill/driver alone can't ever replace an actual set that includes a variety of power tools. As a new homeowner back in the day, I bought a Dewalt cordless set and used the sawzall, circular saw, and light extensively in addition to the drill and driver. Had I known about the lifetime warranty on the Ridgid line at that time, I probably would have chosen that ecosystem.

Yes, the brushless set is now $399. Even better. It was higher price last time I checked. The inclusion of a 6ah battery along with the 2ah is nicer too.
I snagged up the brushless set, exactly what I was waiting for.

Fair enough. I'm old and have owned a bunch of tools, and I will go years where all I use is the driver. What I've found is that the tools that I've bought with a project in mind get used, and tools that I buy just in case end up using up my storage space. I still have a pneumatic nail gun sitting brand new in the box in my tool chest.

Yeah, I know how you feel, I'm old now too. I actually decided to sell off most of my tools after this summer is over since physically I'm slowing down. The thought of it gives me anxiety however since most of my life I have built or repaired nearly everything whenever the need arose. Definitely not looking forward to having to deal with repairmen or mechanics going forward. Lol.

Great deal. This sell makes room for the new sub Compacts Ridgid Nukes' that come out in July.

I'm not sure how this is valued at $100 more than the deal posted yesterday:https://www.homedepot.com/pep/RYO...51-483420-You're paying $100 for a dust buster, blower, and sander instead of the multitool? Or is Rigid supposed to be higher end than Ryobi?
Ridgid in my opinion who has owned both recently, is the better of the two by far. I have also owned bosch and milwaukee both 12v. I would take ridgid to a job site. Ryobi I would take to the garden and home.
