They are handy for porting deals, but I wouldn't use them as a main service. Data and call qualities are poor.

I've had Tello for a few months now. I used to pay T Mobile, and instead of $80 with Tello for unlimited plans, I now pay $50. But in my case, I have my phone and my son's phone, however, with T Mobile I paid $80 for a single line with AutoPay, I recommend it. Tello's most expensive bread is only $25, and you can change the plan month by month if you want. I do recommend an unlocked phone with compatible bands.

In my case, it's been excellent, the best decision I could have made. I switched to Tello because my rent went up and I was looking for alternatives. I have signal, I've done speed tests, and it runs super fast I used to pay $80 for one unit, now I pay $50 for two at $25 each.

I have used Tello for several years for my iPhone and am pleased with the the reasonable price and service quality. Most fees come from Federal, State and Local taxes and surcharges. You can also add an unlocked T-M0bile hotsp0t TMOHS1 since they run on that network.
However, Tello does not yet support cellular activation of the Apple Watch.

I was going to say the same thing. I've used Tello to port numbers when I otherwise couldn't (example: to Google Voice) and it worked flawlessly with no hassle and within an hour to complete on Tello's end. I recommend Tello if you need to port a number on the cheap.

The eSIM is free with this deal.
But yes, usually there is $3 eSIM charge. I think they started that when so many people were using Tello to generate a phone number for porting deals.

The fees depend on you zip code. For me, it's only 31cents on a $10 plan (see image). And if I select the $6 plan with no minutes, it drops to 15c.
