Have you tried aux? I'm wondering if it is a better sound. Also. Can multiple phones connect to that unit at the same time or does it have multiple phones' profiles?
Does your have USB-C for power?
Thanks
I use the aux output on mine and the audio quality is excellent. It depends on the quality of the source of course. You can pair the unit with multiple phones but only one can be connected at any one time. This is the norm for these types of units. And yes, it uses a USB C port for power but the port is only for power. I believe it is 3A @ 5V

So if I do not have a 3.5mm / AUX jack how do I get Audio out? My mustang has a factory amp, and I seriously doubt this things built in would sound half as good. If it's using an FM Transmitter, then that's a hard pass.

unless you need the backup cam attachment, why not just mount your phone and have it aux/bluetooth to your car speakers?

I bought this from a previous post and I'm returning it. The android auto keeps disconnecting. Other users have mentioned similar issues.

This may have to do with the lack of software updates for this unit. I bought it last year and used it with a pixel 6 and it worked flawlessly. Since then i upgraded to apixel 8 and it disconnects randomly for 20 seconds or so every few minutes. I'm guessing Android auto had been updated but no new unit software is available from this manufacturer. If avoid this unless you have older phones.

Like some others stated, you still use audio via Bluetooth in your car. You use this only for the video. The phone is smart enough to route only video to this and audio to the car in-built system (assuming the car system has Bluetooth). This way the steering wheel controls work as well.

Many years ago, I upgraded my wife's cars inbuilt system with a Pioneer dual DIN system because of CarPlay. It cost me $500 just for the unit and so much more for all the harnesses, and adapters. To say nothing of the countless hours it took to figure out the wiring, and soldering and installation. In the end, everything worked, but it was impossible to make anything out in bright sunlight (screen tech at the time, combined with the angle it was at).

Eventually, I swapped back the factory system and put a cheapo wireless CarPlay system like this one. It's been running well for the last few years. It's a big screen with good resolution and does everything one would expect. It connects immediately, and most importantly, its extremely bright screen and angle/location of installation made it so one can make out stuff in bright sunlight. The backup camera is so much better than the in-built one in the car. Not only does it have higher resolution, it seems to adapt better to varying light conditions. And if the unit ever fails, it's not that expensive to replace. I just have to swap out the head unit without wiring anything. Yes, it looks ugly compared to an in-built system, but the trade-off is worth it.

Don't worry about the brand. I went crazy researching various options in the market when I bought one for my wife. There are only a few models in the market and various 'companies' are just selling the same rebadged variant. Many of the 'companies' play fast and loose with the claimed specs. Don't fall for that. Look at various variants on Amazon, and if the picture is the same for a product from another company, you're buying the same product. The specs will be the same. Pricing varies from vendor to vendor based on reviews. If somebody's listing gets a lot of reviews their price will creep up. The same product form another vendor might be cheaper if they just listed it. You get the idea.

I only use AUX from the Android auto screen, although it can do FM as well as having a speaker itself. Don't know about multiple phones - I'm the only one who drives my car. Yes, USB-C Power.

The one you linked has pretty horrible reviews.. I do like the dash cam though..

So with these screens, can you make the audio come from the regular car speakers?
The reviews weren't that much different than the one for this thread. A lot of complaints about disconnecting - that can be remedied with a fix linked in this thread, downloading some app called EveLink and applying a very quick patch. Before I did that it was disconnecting around every 10-20 minutes for about a minute at a time.
Audio comes from either the screen's speaker, FM transmitter, or an AUX cable to your car.

I got this one a few weeks ago and mostly love it. I updated it to fix the Android Auto disconnect. Initially my phone would connect to the dash maybe 50% of the time, but now it is connecting 100% of the time. Maybe it was due to me changing the settings every time. The only problem I have with display is the lack of auto dimming and the scheduled night time dimming doesn't work, or it seems to be operating one some time that I cannot set. The sun glare can be pretty bad on the display that I wish I didn't tilt the display downward when I initially set up the mounting area.

I'm going to install the rearview camera soon.

How does this integrate with your current audio speakers in the car? Do you have to have Bluetooth to make it work?
