Yeah, yeah, inflation, sanctions, tariffs, oil crisis etc., but there is no reason for this to have a $400 MSRP. This is an obvious price gouging. Sony with their marketing reach will obviously sell a sh!t-ton of these, but you don't need to pay a premium for an unexceptional mass-market consumer product. This is not why we are here on Slickdeals.

Now, let's put that into perspective.
If you took that exact same $7,587 and spent it on a TIDAL Individual subscription ($10.99/month), do you know how long it would last you?
š„ 57.5 YEARS. š„
I have the PS-LX310BT and it is not trash, or wont be with another purchase. You will need to spend another $30-60 to get a better stylus or else most records will sound like someone running their fingers down a chalkboard. Once you swap that out it is a decent piece of equipment that will do what anyone looking to only spend a little bit on a turntable would want it to do.

I mean, sure, its likely just the natural differences in the amps creating an effect that I have associated with it because everyone has told me to look for it, and that is what it is.....but......there IS a distinct difference in how the sound is "made" between the two setups......right?

Something that felt substantial when you bought it, but now just sits there taking up space, requiring maintenance, and gets offloaded in bulk for whatever some random guy offers so they can finally park in the garage. "May still have value" is doing Olympic-level gymnastics.
The tangible ritual is fine if that's your thing. It's still just an expensive hobby. Most people who want the vinyl experience buy the handful of records they actually care about and stream the rest. They don't turn it into a $7k storage unit and call it legacy planning.
The math was never complicated. You just didn't like the conclusion.

The original math was about listening to music, not building a collection. Those are two different hobbies. If you enjoy collecting physical records, that's fine. Just don't pretend it's the financially smarter way to actually listen to music. It isn't.
