These are pretty good. Mine vanished and I found it in my dryer when I disassembled it and cleaned out the lint fan. I popped a nrw battery in it and it works perfectly!

So I bought this for my parents the last time it was this price with coupon code. But after doing some research, like a lot of people have said, the previous woot deal for $6 is this exact model, just without the sticker for meat "doneness" ranges. If you look on thermomaven's website, under thermometer's, they're both F1's (this retailer I think just makes up a model number, thermomaven doesn't officially have anything as a HT04), just with and without sticker. Not to thread crap...but the F1 without sticker sits around $12, pretty consistently (https://amazon.com/dp/B0CZCX5WDC), so to me this deal with the sticker is lukewarm.

Thermomaven and Typhur (same parent company) really need to provide a nice infographic comparison/chart that shows all of their temperature probe products. It's pretty confusing and being very clear about what makes one probe better/worse than another would be nice.

I've had two thermapens spontaneously die on me so I'm going with these going forward.

These types of thermometer have regularly been $4. This one looks nicer than some but still.

Maybe Slickdeals should just change their name to ThermoMavenRUs and be done with it.

It's honestly up to the user what they actually want. These thermomaven one's from my experience have faster time to stabilized temperature, and are more accurate, than the cheap ones. If you really just to need to be in the ballpark when measuring the temperature and accuracy isn't really needed, then get the cheap ones that are almost disposable, and just calibrate them more frequently. But if you want something with a bit more accuracy and precision, I think these are a good value. The stickerless one is down to $9.71 today. I'm not sure if the price will go down even more for prime day. But for me, the slightly better sensors on these is worth the $4-5 difference.

So short story is that I bought a few of them like 3 weeks ago when these and some of the other ones were on sale because I realized my parents didn't own a instant read thermometer and we were grilling, and I also needed another one to replace one that my mother in law left in roast in the oven because she thought it was one of those bluetooth ones that you can leave in the meat. I'm a chemist by trade, and when something claims a calibration with a certificate...I get curious/suspicious. So I tested the thermometer against boiling water and ice water, and these were spot on out of the box. The Ammzo one was off by like 2 degrees, and took a few more seconds to stabilize. I also got this one tempPro tp-03H one, and that one the ice water was correct, but the boiling was off by like 2 degrees. I tested using procedures like this https://www.virtualweberbullet.co...-accuracy/
I live on the coast, and am pretty close to sea level, so boiling temp of water didn't need much of a correction factor.

OK. I looked it up so that's why I pulled my comment. The AMMZO claims an accuracy of +/-2F while the TM claims +/-0.5F . Yes, the TM looks like a better device but, going back to your very first comment, its down to user preferences. I'm sure there are some foods that need immediate and accurate temperature readings, but I suspect that the majority of people (like me) use these just to check the temperature of their meat for which 2F is not going to make much of a difference.
