what is the point of just buying this ratchet without the sockets? The klein pass thru sockets are proprietary and I'm not even sure klein sells the pass thru sockets standalone. I guess the ratchet can be used like a standard ratchet.

Found that out the hard way. I'm trying to remember and be accurate without going out to my workshop but I believe Crescent and GearWrench have interchangeable sockets. GW had a pass through extension and flex head ratchet I wanted. This is an OK deal but without the sockets kinda pointless. Also it's been $30 at Amazon for nearly a year so the discount isn't that deep.

Yup, Craftsman (when it was owned by Sears) also had GearWrench/Crescent compatible pass-through sockets. Got a couple sets on clearance during their going out of business sales and they're still perfect almost 15 years later.
