P.S. Gravel bikes rule.
Easier to load, will not wiggle as hard or have larger wheel MTBs touch the pavement over speedbumps etc.
Yes, gravel bikes are lighter, but the tires and wheels alone on these MTBs can add 5lbs, being 2.4in typ for tires and 30ID for rims. Then there are sus forks etc.
From my experience and in natural trails, the weight between a ~20lb Gravel and 25lb XC HT is not making any difference in favor of the gravel before you start going really fast and th3 benefit of aero due to the narrower body stance on the drop bar bike kicks in. But climbing traction on MTB tires is notable and confidence going downhill on anything but smooth gravel , doesn't even come close.
