No, current scientific consensus shows that aluminum in underarm products is safe for the vast majority of people. Major medical organizations, including the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, have found no definitive link between the aluminum in antiperspirants and health issues like breast cancer or Alzheimer's disease. The skin acts as a highly effective barrier, absorbing negligible amounts of the compound.

The only exception applies to individuals with severe kidney disease, who are advised to consult a doctor because their kidneys may not filter out excess aluminum from all environmental sources as efficiently.

great deal, sadly for me the product page says "Something went wrong and this promotion isn't currently shoppable." Good deal if it works for you, might be because I've used it in the past.

Does anyone else find that degree anti perspirant gets used up faster than other brands? A 2.7 oz container of old spice or some other popular brand lasts a week to two weeks longer than a 2.7 oz container of degree. I think it's softer so that a single swipe applies more of the degree than other brands. Degree is cheaper but when I compare how long the container lasts, the price difference is small.

Oh really, one simple look would differ from your "current scientific consensus" info. See below. Hey, in the end, its everyone's choice, informed or not, to make their own decisions.
Pure aluminum applied to the skin is not toxic, but aluminum compounds (such as aluminum chlorohydrate found in antiperspirants) can pose risks in high doses or for specific populations. While the skin absorbs only a minimal amount of these compounds (approximately 0.012% reaches the bloodstream), regulatory bodies like the FDA and European Commission deem them safe within established concentration limits.
However, health concerns persist regarding chronic exposure and dermal irritation. Potential issues include:
  • Skin Reactions: Aluminum compounds can cause contact dermatitis, itching, or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
  • Systemic Toxicity: In patients with kidney disease or those on dialysis, the body cannot effectively eliminate aluminum, leading to potential accumulation and toxicity affecting nerves and bones.
  • Theoretical Risks: Some studies suggest links between aluminum accumulation and Alzheimer's disease or breast cancer, though major health organizations state there is no conclusive evidence establishing a direct causal link from topical use in healthy individuals.
