Our dog would never eat their german shepherd kibble. The kibbles are as big as marbles to force them to chew, instead of snarfing it down and risking bloat. She's too dainty to chew something that big.
Our vet visited their research facility. She went in thinking that they were just good marketing and overpriced. She came away really impressed with their R&D, though. They do actual live feeding trials of each type/breed of dog food. Most companies who bother to do live feeding trials do beagles because that's the most common lab test dog. The vast majority of AAFCO-compliant dog foods are doing nutritional analysis of their foods to make sure they meet requirements on paper, but they don't do live feeding trials.
Over the years, we've done everything from store kibble to home cooking to raw feeding depending on what each dog needed. Get your annual blood tests to make sure the dog is doing well and otherwise feed them whatever makes them healthy and happy. What that is varies a lot from dog to dog. I know dogs that thrive on Honest Kitchen. Our dog wasn't a fan.
