In mid 2026, with OLED, 32GB of ram and a 1TB nvme, this is hard to beat at < $800 for a like-new open box.
What do mean no esc? The entire action row is lit up and if you hold the fn key all of the f's are there. Doing a quick search it appears maybe that can be disabled in the bios. IDK
Also I first did all of the windows updates and then went to dell's site and let it detect the pc and search for updates, of which there were I think 3 more. Also, the latest bios update is 1.10.0 You can check that with cpu-z

To anyone who has purchased these or is going to pick up their order: I just picked up mine and specifically asked the staff at the counter if this was a display unit, and they said no, and explicitly said that it was a customer return (WHICH WAS A LIE). I just got home and ran a few commands and probing apps to investigate for myself. The unit I got is certainly a display demo unit due to the following reasons:
- The warranty start date is in November 2025.
- I installed CrystalDiskInfo, which reads the SMART data from the unit's SSD, and it shows ~6000 hours of power on hours, and only 44 power cycles. Exactly matching the demo display scenarios, as the unit is constantly running and is rarely is restarted or turned off. The total host writes field also shows 28TB, which is significant.
- Battery current capacity is exactly equal to the design capacity (battery health excellent) that completely matches the constant plugged-in use case where the battery does not go through any charge cycles and is not degraded.
- Finally, upon further careful look at the display, there is a 'Signal/Side-ways Wifi' UI icon burn-in mark at the right bottom corner of the OLED screen, which is visible in lighter colors and goes away on black (definition of burn-in). This is probably from their demo software UI.
This is extremely deceptive and concerning intentional misrepresentation of the condition of the device as Open-Box GOOD by Best Buy, when the device is a display demo running 24/7 for more than 7 Months.

I purchased mine a few days before this deal was posted (it was posted ~8 days ago when I jumped on it) and I was really convinced I had a display unit. I Asked them the same question when I picked it up and the response was if it doesn't include an adapter, its a display unit. Mine came with an adapter, but in a bestbuy generic blue box. My warranty started absurdly early like yours and my battery capacity was 96% of the design capacity. Keeping a battery at 100% charge isn't good for it either.
I've spent some timing digging to see if there is way to find OLED hours, but so far no luck. I then looked at the SMART data (used crystal disk but mistakenly downloaded the ads version - to anyone reading this, if your exe says Ads at the end of it, dig again through that mess of a webpage and find the non-ads version) and it dispelled my initial theory of being a display unit. Power on cycles less than 100 and total power on hours less than 250.
You have motivated me to check again for burn in. I did it initally on a website which went through colors. How did you do yours?
FYI, dell also showed me some absurdly early warranty start date. When I added it to my devices on my account, it reset it and it now shows a year from when I added it. If I ever need service, I'm pretty sure they will ask for the receipt to confirm eligibility.

My theory is that the computer would shut off the SSD, so thats why my SMART hours are much lower than yours

I tried to look at the right bottom corner. On a white screen, there seems something looking like 3 arcs but I am really not very sure.
I fed all the info into chatgpt and its analysis says 20% chance as a display unit and 80% chance that the laptop was used by a user who then returned it.
Will have to dig further...
