Quote from rastatech :
Turning a 16e into a 17pro is quite an unusual stunt and amazing for Go5G+ but a locked phone not so ideal. Also, keep in mind if you burn too much EIP credit now you might regret that in September when the 18 pros shows up.

For those of you with free T-Mobile lines (Line on us promos), not all lines are eligible for upgrades any longer.
https://tmo.report/2026/04/t-mobi...g-forward/
New phone release in the next quarter is likely the reason this is discounted more. Those getting this deal are likely not planning to go for the 18 series.

Regarding free lines, I have two LOUs from 2020 and free line of BOGO from early 2021 which continue to remain qualified for device promotions. However, I have one LOU from early 2021 and the free line of BOGO from early 2023 excluded.

T-Mobile continues to allow multiple EIPs on a single line as long as they have different promo codes. If a free line isn't eligible for device promo, use an eligible paid line for the purchase and use the phone on the free line.

I was at my local Walmart and they do AT&T, T-mobile, & Verizon. I'm gonna assume I can't do this deal there right?

Stupid question but If I take advantage of this and trade in my 15 for 17 pro, will my monthly bill go up?
I tried to do a similar deal at Costco last year with three devices and my plan would have gone up about $20 per line.

Check if you are on an eligible plan first.

There is Fair Market Value issued first which you pay back for 24-months to make it even. This is convoluted math instead of just discounting the phone for the trade in and leave remaining as installments.
If plan eligible, then bill shouldn't go up.

There is so much wrong with this post... I work at T-Mobile. There is NO end date. They only tell us a day or two prior to the promo ending.

55+, Military, and FR, don't qualify for the max $1100. It's a max $900.

Sam's Club upgrade gets you $75 Sam's card.

Please check all your info before posting.

T-Mo just brought in T-Life upgrades at kiosks which gives people 100% recurring device credits, no more FMV taken off if done with the app

Does old grandfathered line work with this upgrade or you have to be on new GO5G plan?
No, this is T-Mobile and you'll never see a deal like this for older plans. Every once in a while you may see a targeted iPhone deal but those are rare too and becoming a unicorn. Boils down to keeping your cheaper plan is always the right choice as switching plans may get you 1 or 2 years of deals before the new plan you switched to is replaced by a newer plan and that plan is now old but you're stuck forever with the higher payment plan now and back to no deals. The ONLY reason T-Mobile is letting people stay on Simple Choice, One, etc. is they know they'll bail in 10 seconds if ever forced off those plans.

Is it "safe" to upgrade at Sam's Club or Costco? I try to avoid authorized dealers because they added stuff to my account without my authorization in the past.

Also, do you trade in in person at the kiosk and get your phone that day? Or do you just process the order at the kiosk and then you get your new phone by mail and have to trade in by mail?

the phone gets shipped to you.
you could also call Costco and do it over the phone.
you could also do it on Costco on the internet, this is a new way to purchase via Costco.

you can take the trade in device to a corporate store. Just be sure you get a physical receipt

or just mail it out...again, get a receipt.

The question is; do you feel lucky?

Tmo may have some of the nicest, apparently helpful reps inthe business, but either they are simply lying to you when they say they're putting in an order/,making a note, or they have absolutely the worst possible, buggy, note-dropping IT system in the world. It took me 14 months and a dozen calls to get my gift card credit the last time I used Costco to upgrade my three phones on Tmo. Every time the rep would say it they were making a note, or that they were putting in a raised priority request. Every time I called back, there was never any record that anything had been done; sometimes there wasn't even a record that I had called.

As for the deal - thanks for putting it up OP! My wife is constantly fighting with the memory limit on her 128GB 15pro (and she rags on the battery so its down to 78% health). I was about to upgrade her to the 17pro and take the $830, but we're going to be out of town for a few days and I don' want it delivered while we were gone. I just wish they would continue the credits if you paid off the phone early; not having access to a UK/EU sim while overseas really sucks.

When I tried to do it directly on T-Mobile website, I could get $1100 trade-in for 14 Pro, but when I went though Costco-T-mobile site, got transfered to T-mobile site, and tried it, I only got $100 trade-in value.
