How much savings are from Tax? Pro Max is 1200; With trade-in discount, it becomes 100. Assuming 10% sales tax, are we saying that apple store will only charge 10% on 100 whereas Costco Tomobile will charge 10% on 1200?
It is taxed on the remaining value after the trade in phone discount is applied. If iPhone 14 Pro Max is worth $300, then tax on 17 Pro Max is for $1199 - $300 = $899.
That $100 is what you pay off in 24 months with credits.

Not with T-Mobile, but you can at Apple Store with T-Mo financing and promo.

What phone are you planning to trade in?

Apple applies the non-promo trade-in value of your trade-in device as an immediate credit (reducing the cost of the new phone). For example, If you get a 17 Pro ($1099) and your trade-in is worth $300 according to Apple's normal valuation, the final cost of the new phone is $799, which is what your monthly device EIP cost and resulting monthly promotional credit is based off of.
sorry, a bit confused about how this works..... so if I want to trade in a 14 pro max for a 17 pro max, how would it work at apple versus at costco?

Thanks!

I have an iPhone 16e that's currently financed on a different line that I was hoping to use to upgrade.

But looking at it further, I may only get $900 since I am on the military plan. So not as good of a deal but probably still worth it.

I have never done a trade in + purchase a new device at Apple. Do you ship them the trade device? Or could you also bring it in store. I image to call Tmobile and see how much eip credit I have remaining.

From Costco- we get $100 gc and Device activation fee waiver.
Through Apple- we get less tax, unlocked device and device activation fee. Overall savings $100 when we upgrade through costco vs unlocked device with Apple Store
A big difference is also that at Apple you can only trade in Apple to get the promo. Any Samsung you only get the TIV, no promo discount. So if you want to trade in a Samsung you'll need to go the Costco/T-Mobile route.

Generally is it worth upgrading to a higher plan like Go 5G+? Is this ongoing charge going to pay for itself in the long run?
Usually not. You will need to constantly buy new discounted EIP phones to reason the higher monthly fees for the plan unless you have some free lines or really use and value some things like high hotspot limits etc, which most users likely won't.

The best is to bring into the store if nearby. You can set this up during the order on apple online. they will ask if you mail it in or bring to the store. You can either transfer your data in the store or if it is a separate device that you are trading in then update it to the latest iOS before and factory reset and then you'll be in and out within 15 minutes. They take pictures and run a diagnostics check and email you have a receipt and are done right away. Promo shows up properly on T-Mobile within 24-72h after pickup/trade-in.

Is it worth to go through Costco if you are a member? I saw they're given a $450 gift card. Or gift cards broken down. Are there any monthly discounts available? An individual told me to have a 20% off that he can apply to my account for the life of the plan? Has anyone ever experienced that? Just wanted to make sure it's a legitimate. Thank you.

Sounds like the 20% insider code. I have that on my 5g plus Tmobile account. The rep at Costco hooked me up with a code. I pay about $145 a month for 4 lines
