Just went there with Frontier for the first time for a quick family trip and it was a nice away from Houston. More hills than I thought, driving is crazier than Houston in mid and downtown, nice food options but more expensive. We had a good Airbnb near midtown and drive out to Stone Mountain State park despite the history is a beautiful nature break from the city only about 30-45min away.

based on your post, you went from houston to atlanta? i can't believe how expensive airfares are to atlanta. i've been trying to plan a trip for a year from major cities in the west coast to atlanta and the lowest i've seen was $399-$499. i finally bit the bullet and booked for $301 last week. now i'm looking at hotels and rental car and cannot believe how freaking expensive it is....even with my searching skills.
